We walked out of the school only to see that it was raining. We aren't talking a rain drop here and there. . .I mean we are talking it is dumping the rain down in buckets.
"Oh. This is just grand!" Hazel said as we walked out to see our fate for the evening.
"I know. Can someone please remind me why I decided to join marching band?" I said sarcastically as I stepped out into the rain. I got to thinking. Why did I join marching band? I mean if you really think about it, why would anyone? Come on think about all the crap that you have to deal with. Spending countless days of your summer in the band room playing music that after 3 or so months, you will never play again. Then you spend a week or so in the hot sun. Spending hours after school on that same field, dealing with the taunting of soccer players running past. Dealing with the deadly Dr. Beat. Having to listen to your band director yell at you for being one step out of place. Standing at attention while your band director fixes that one person. Running laps for one person being late. Spending your Friday nights at the school. Wearing an uncomfortable, ugly, uniform week after week. Having to stay at the game even though your team is down by 25 points in the 4th quarter. Spending countless hours with the same people every week.
As the rain was stinging my face as it hit, I thought to my self, why did I join marching band? We loaded up the busses and we were off to the stadium. We got off the buss. I looked up at the stadium and took a deep breath. Got my instrument, warmed up, tuned, and got in line to get on the field. We walked out and did our show. I did the best that I had ever done. I hit every mark, remembered every accidental, and I felt great. As I was walking off of the field. Something then hit me. That was why I kept doing band. That rush you get when you walk off the buss and look at the field. That rush you get while walking on the field. That indescribable feeling you get when you finish your show. That is why I stayed. That is what I live for.
This is my first FanFiction. Please R+R. Thanks.
