Fate
A Spencer Reid One-Shot
"HELP ME!"
"Hey baby girl! What's going on?!"
The blood seemed to be pouring from his chest with ease, like it didn't plan to stop. The woman couldn't speak. He watched her with pained and tired eyes and she forced out the words. "Blood. He's bleeding!"
Morgan continued to try and sooth her from the other end, "Chelsea, honey, you have to talk to me. What's going on?"
"They shot him. There's too many, I can't move him and I'm out of ammo." She put her hand in his wavy brown locks and looked him in the eyes; "I can't protect him on my own!"
"Honey calm down ok?"
"I can't! He's dying!" as a field officer she knew better. But feelings can make even the strongest person weak.
"H-hey…" she looked down at him again and he reached up to touch her hair, "Get out."
"No! I can't protect you but I won't leave you."
He smiled weakly, "You have to leave. I don't want to see you get hurt too."
She put her forehead on his, "I'll die before I let you die."
"Chelsea! Chelsea!"
"Morgan what's going on out there? Please get in here!"
"I…I can't baby girl."
"What?! No! No! He's dying Morgan, I need someone to help me!"
Spencer grabbed her hand as tight as he could, "You are so much stronger than me." She shook her head in defiance and he nodded. "I'm just a brain. I always need others to protect me. And they always get hurt."
"Shut up! Please just shut up!" she kissed his forehead, "I'll get you out myself."
He took a shaky breath and pushed her away, "Get out…"
"NO!"
"Someone is over there!"
Spencer struggled to push her again but she laid on top of him, "I love you."
The young man gasped painfully and turned his head away from her, before looking back as she was lifted off him, "Let go! Spencer!"
"…I love you too…"
"Leave him there, he's dying anyway."
She fought so hard, screaming at the top of her lungs. She squeezed her yes shut as metal doors slammed open and more screams, yells, and bullets pierced the air. From there, it all went black.
"Honey Bee." She felt a hand on her shoulder, "Honey wake up."
The female blinked her hazel eyes a few times and looked around at the many faces, JJ, Morgan, Hotchner, Prentiss, Rossi, and Garcia. She looked around at them one more time then started to panic, "Spencer…?"
"He's down the hall." JJ said quietly.
"How is he?"
Morgan rubbed his head, "He woke up asking for you."
The woman dove from her bed just to be caught around the waist by Morgan. She struggled against him, giving him a hard time, "Please! I need to see him!"
His grip only softened a little so she begged him, "…please…"
As soon as she was free she bolted down the hall and burst open the door. Spencer looked up from his red jello, a bit startled by the woman's loud entrance. Tears started to pour down her face as she saw him sitting up in bed, the color back in his face. He kept his eyes locked with hers and he put the jello on the nightstand.
He held her so tight as she cried into his chest, "I'm sorry!"
He chuckled painfully, "Why are you apologizing?"
"I couldn't protect you. All the training in the world and I couldn't keep you safe."
He lifted her chin and smiled at her, ignoring the dull ache in his chest. Even as a genius he couldn't decide if it was pain, or the fact that she felt so strongly…and that he felt the same.
"Accept the things to which fate binds you and love the people with whom fate brings you together, but do so with all your heart."
She chuckled a bit, "You're speaking to me in riddles."
"It's a quote actually. One from Marcus Aurelius that he wrote when he met a woman whom he believed was brought to him by fate…" he trailed off as he noticed her raised brow and slight smirk.
"Maybe I should get to the point?"
She nodded. He brought her a little closer, so close they could feel each other's breath, "I love you too."
