Beck and Jade have been dating for two years.
"Longer," she interrupts whenever people ask.
"What?"
"It's been longer," she says in an impatient tone.
Beck pauses. "Okay then." He simply lets it go and resumes whatever he was doing.

The two are the highest profile couple at Hollywood Arts High School. And yet so many people wonder why it has been two years. Or, longer.
The first time a person walks into that school and sees her tossing him around like trash, they wonder why in hell he's put up with it for so long. What they don't see is the softer side of Jade West, the side that's almost never shown in public.
/
It's late afternoon on a Sunday when Beck hears an angry knock on the door to his RV.
"Come i-" he doesn't even finish the statement before the door is kicked open and Jade comes in.
She doesn't say a word, just makes her way over to his bed and sits down next to him, resting her chin in her hand.
Beck takes one look at her and knows something's not right. "Did you have a bad day?" he asks, closing his laptop and putting it aside.
Jade doesn't speak, just shakes her head no. She refuses to look at him.
Beck tries again. "Do you wanna talk about it?"
Jade turns to look at him, and he sees her brown eyes are brimming with tears. She throws herself into his arms and lets herself cry. Beck doesn't say anything, just holds her and rubs her back gently.
Anyone who knows Jade West knows she doesn't cry. Beck Oliver knows she does. And a lot more often than everyone else thinks.
Most of the time Beck doesn't even find out a reason. The scenario plays out the same: she always comes to him in tears, then composes herself and pretends it never happened. But he understands, and respects the fact that if she wanted him to know she would tell him herself.
When Jade's on an angry rampage, Beck sometimes even asks himself why he's stuck with her for all this time. But during times like these, when she needs someone to hold her, he knows why. Because he's the only one Jade can come to for comfort.
Beck feels like without him, Jade wouldn't be able to make it. Under that tough exterior, he knows she does love him, even though she rarely acts like it. And he loves her back. Her moody personality and over possessive nature amuse him, even though it requires the patience and tolerance of a parent.
Jade sits up and wipes away her tears. "Thanks," she says quietly before looking away.
"Anytime, baby," Beck answers. "Did you finish the improv homework?"
Jade gratefully accepts the change of subject. "No, not yet."
"Wanna do it together?" Beck asks, smiling.
She returns it with a small smile of her own. "Okay."
The two do homework together until it's dark outside. "I better get going," Jade says, picking up her bag.
Beck walks her to the door. "See you tomorrow?"
"Yes you will," Jade answers, opening the door. She turns around before stepping outside. "Look, I know I don't say it often..." she hesitates for a moment. "But...I love you."
Beck isn't surprised. "I love you too, babe," he says before kissing her goodnight.
Jade smiles and steps down off the RV. Of one thing she is certain: Beck Oliver wins the title of one who makes her happy.
No idea where this came from. I've been wanting to write Jade/Beck for so long, and didn't have an idea! Was this okay?
