He just stared at her. She was crying for him as if the tears could bring him back. He hadn't meant to hurt her by dying; he had
meant to protect her. If he hadn't pushed her out of the way she would be dead and he would be alive. The sight of her crying
made his heart break. He wanted to be there to protect her, to make it all right again. He recalled the countless times he had
told her she was just a tool to find the jewel shards and that she was an annoying pest. Now he realized that she had heard
those words and still stuck by her. Now he was dead and she was hurting worse than if she had been in physical pain. How
could he have let this happen? She meant everything to him and now he saw that he meant everything to her. She was
screaming his name as though if she screamed it loud enough he would be alive again.
The others were trying to pry her away from his dead body, but she wouldn't budge. She just screamed louder and cried
harder. He wished he could just reach out and touch her. Tell her that he wasn't dead after all. That he would be there for her if
she needed him until the day he died. Only
now he couldn't. He could only watch as a ghost as her pain grew
with each passing
moment.
Why had she tried to protect him. If she had just stayed back then none of this would have happened. Hey! He had to not
blame her. It wasn't her fault he was dead. If she had known that trying to protect him would have him would have ended up
killing him then she would have stayed back. He could now see clearly that she loved him, that above all other things she
treasured their bond as friends and if he were still alive maybe more.
If only he hadn't been so selfish, always going after Kikyo and never considering her feelings in all of this. He didn't really blame
his killer either. She had not been in her right mind when she killed him. Sango had been possessed by Naraku's new
incarnation and had thrown her boomerang without knowledge of it and hit him as he pushed Kagome out of the way.
He saw Sango standing at the exact spot in which she had released her weapon. She stood there frozen; her eyes were wide
with fear. He knew that she was shocked at what had happened and terrified at the fact that she had murdered one of her
friends. He knew that even though she wasn't crying she was still in considerable emotional pain. She fell to her knees and said
she was so sorry. She had a hard time comprehending that I was dead.
She turned her head to look at Kagome who was silent now as she sat there, tears flowing as a constant down her face, and
she was frozen; staring at my dead body. I could tell, just from the look on her face that she was dead on the inside. This had
destroyed her completely and I could see that she would never recover.
The Kagome that I knew was gone replaced by an empty shell. She would never be the same again and I knew her family in
her time could never accept that. They would send her to those special doctors in her time, but I could already see that it was
no use, she would never be anyone ever again. She would never be Kagome again.
The gang stared at Inuyasha. He sat frozen, his eyes glazed over and he kept repeating the same words over and over. "Why
did I die. Now Kagome will suffer forever without me."
The gang looked from Inuyasha to Kagome who lay dead on the ground from being hit with a Wind Scar attack from
Inuyasha's sword after it reflected out of Kanna's mirror.
Inuyasha had crumbled to the ground. The shock of his attack killing the woman he secretly loved had thrown him into a
catatonic state from which they sadly knew he would never recover from.
