CH1 - Beginnings
Kosuke yawned tiredly as he looked to Mei, handing her the bowl of ramen he had just made for her, complete with rice, ham, peas, carrots, butter, and some garlic. "Here, Mei." He told her. "Eat up. You should eat as much as possible. You'll need the energy for tomorrow."
"Thank's Kose." Mei smiled, taking the bowl, beginning to poke at the noodles and such with her chopsticks, sighing heavily. She looked like she was looking off into another world like something was bothering her.
Kose could obviously tell. He looked at her, frowning. "Not hungry?" He asked simply as he picked up some ham, noodles, and carrots with his chopsticks.
"No… I'm just thinking about things…" Mei muttered softly, still simply just moving the food around the bowl mindlessly.
"Like what?" Kose asked, looking at her as he shoved some more noodles into his mouth.
"Like… Mom. Dad." Mei said softly. "What would we do if they were still here. Where would we be? Emotionally, Physically, and Literally."
"Well, emotionally you wouldn't be severely depressed and I wouldn't be 'an asshole', as you like to say constantly." Kose began. "Physically, we'd probably have moved by this point. Moved closer to a university or a college," he went on, "And literally… what do you mean by that?" He asked.
Thunder rumbled and Mei was pulled out of her thoughts. She set her bowl down and hurried over to the window in her slippers. The winds whistled, and she frowned. "You think we'll have to go to the school and take shelter?" She asked Kose, turning and looking at him.
Kose got up, going over to the window and looking outside. "I don't think so. Let's hope not. The school is too far. You could get hurt on the way there." He sighed. "I'm sure it's just a spring storm. No typhoon warnings have been issued. I think we're fine."
She nodded, going back and sitting down to watch TV. Kose turned on his phone's weather notifications, just in case. The two of them watched a movie, a Studio Ghibli film called My Neighbor Totoro. It was Mei's favorite movie of all time. The movie ended, Mei fast asleep on the couch. The winds were much louder, still a whistle though. Kose yawned, going over then picking Mei up and carrying her downstairs to her room.
Thunder rumbled, lightning flashing as he opened the door to her room, and set her on the bed. He smiled down at her, moving some hair out of her face as he put her comforter on top of her and stuck her stuffed Pikachu into her arms. He kissed her head affectionately. "Oyasumi, Mei." He whispered before leaving her room.
He cleaned up the mess in the living room before finally heading to his own room, stopping in his game room first. He went into steam and looked at his downloading files. Doki Doki Literature Club was still downloading. Well, it technically hadn't started yet but still. He sighed. "Eh. I'll leave it on. The generator will turn on if the power goes off." He sighed.
He then tiredly walked to the bed, ready to go to sleep. And so, he laid down on the bed, turning off his lights and shutting his eyes.
During the night, the wind began to howl as debris was blown through the air, lightning flashing like crazy, thunder crashing. Lightning struck the small apartment building with a deafening bang of thunder. The computer in Kosuke's game room sparked wildly as Mei woke up with a start, screaming at the loud crash of thunder.
Kosuke was awoken by his little sisters screams. He grabbed the Pikachu lamp off his bedside table and ran out of his room into hers. "Mei? What's wrong? Are you hurt?" He asked in a panic as he busted through the door, a robe just barely covering his boxers.
"I-I'm fine, the lightning scared me." She admitted sheepishly, shaking in fear under her blanket.
Kosuke sighed, setting the Pikachu lamp down on Mei's bedside table and sitting next to her, rubbing her back, mumbling words of assurance to her, hoping to make her feel better. He was about to walk out when he heard the sound of something, or someone, falling over in his game room. Mei and he both sat up.
"Oniichan, what was that?" Mei asked, frightened.
"I don't know…" Kosuke answered nervously. "Stay here Mei, I'm going to go check." He told her.
She nodded as he stood up, grabbing the Pikachu lamp again, and heading down the hall to his game room door as the winds battered the apartment building outside. He heard hushed voices behind the door to his game room. He stopped, listening.
"No one panic guys, I'm sure this is all just a dream." Said a girls voice.
Girls…? Kosuke thought. He frowned. In my house? This has gotta be a dream… He then pinched himself, wincing silently. Nope, not a dream… crap.
He swallowed nervously, taking a deep breath. He put his hand on the doorknob and the voices stopped. He gripped the knob, turning it and opening the door. There stood 4 beautiful girls. But not just any girls. Kosuke looked at his desktop. The 4 girls from the title screen of Doki Doki were missing and standing in front of him. They looked just as cute on screen as they did in real life. He kept looking back from the screen to the girls.
"How in the…" Words escaped him at that moment. Was this really happening?
The girls looked just as confused, if not more, than Kosuke. "Umm… Would you mind telling us where we are?" One of the girls asked. She had short pink hair with a bow in it. Kosuke recognized her as Sayori.
The shock too much for him, Kosuke passed out on the floor in front of the four girls.
