️️~~Chapter 1~~️

️~~Down the rabbit hole~~️

Dark, darker yet darker; the shadows cutting deeper as she fell into the inky black abyss within the mountain. Her golden brown locks stroke her face, the air pushing them upwards and controlling them, making them coil and flutter about her eyes. And her blue dress billowed around her knees as she fell deeper, and deeper, and deeper. It comforted her, the sound of the air rushing past her ears and the fleeting moments where her hair brushed against the tip of her nose. Her expression was calm and at ease, for the cold air had swept away all her worries about what would happen when the fall ended. She thought she knew what was coming, apparently she was wrong.

CRACK!

She hit the ground hard, her bones shattering upon impact, the peaceful air forced out of her Lungs in a painful splutter. For an instant, she was in agony, her attempts to cry out in pain thwarted by her lack of oxygen. The air turned black around her and the agonising pain suddenly was no more. Everything stopped, and for a few blissful moments, there was only silence.

A hazy voice drew her back into consciousness.

"you awaken in a bed of red rose petals" it said. As she looked around her she found that the words were the truth, but there was no being to match the voice to. 'curious... ' she thought to herself as she sat up and continued to assess her surroundings. The girl was in a large cavern, with a weak beam of sunlight just reaching the ground, creating a spotlight encircling where she was sat in her bed of soft red petals. There seemed to be no way back up to the surface, and only one exit of the rocky space; a dark passage way chiseled into the stone on the Eastern Wall. Not that she knew which way was east of course, there was no way to tell where exactly she was or how long it had been since she had made the leap of faith into the mountain, following the calls of a stranger. She found that the pain she had previously felt was gone, so she stood and again felt no pain, or Indeed any hint that she had felt any pain in the first place. For a while she stood there, puzzled, before spotting a blur of white fuzz disappear into the dark stone passageway.

'A rabbit, perhaps?' She pondered. But surely there could be no life down here, it was rumoured that only the dead and monsters dwelled beneath the mountain...

She decided to follow the rabbit, as it would be her only way out and, curious soul as she was, she was beginning to get restless In the small cavern. So she proceeded cautiously, into the long, dark passageway to another world...
