A Day at the Movies
"These seats are too small."
"Suck it up Ronon, they're always too small," replied John with a sigh.
John watched as Ronon shifted and struggled to get comfortable in his seat. Thanking his fast reflexes, the colonel was able to grab the drink from the armrest before it went flying through the air.
"Take it easy, Chewie," John urged, clutching his soda. "You're gonna break the chair if you're not careful."
"Shut up, Sheppard. This was your stupid idea."
John plastered on a huge smile and said, "I'm just helping you experience the culture of…here," he finished lamely and quickly took a sip of his drink. He sighed again, "It's a shame that Teyla and McKay didn't come, they'd love it."
"Oh yeah," Ronon said sarcastically. "The pushy crowds, long lines, loud people, Teyla would love it. And McKay mumbled something about green space bimbos and inaccurate science."
"So he says. Pipe down buddy, the movie's about to start."
"So I've gotta be quiet the whole time? But we're always loud when we watch-"
A chorus of "shhhh" radiated throughout the theater. John spared a glance at Ronon's disgruntled and angry face as he tried to slouch in his chair. His eyes were quickly drawn back to the screen as the U.S.S. Kelvin raced across it.
"Whoa, cool ship," commented Ronon, "Are you sure it's not real?" he asked in a whisper.
"No Chewie, it's Star Trek, it's not real. Now be quiet and watch the movie," John said quickly, his eyes not leaving the screen.
"Someone's kicking my seat."
"Tell 'em to knock it off." John continued to watch the movie as Ronon glared the occupant behind them into submission. Finally things had settled down and John could relax and watch the movie.
"I'm out of popcorn."
