"It's amazing."

Tegan looked at the Doctor. "Amazing? You must have seen this thousands of times."

The Doctor turned to her. "Yet every time I look at the sky, on any planet… I am speechless."

"You certainly don't sound like it," she commented with a smile.

He narrowed his eyes in mock agitation before looking back at the sky.

They were lying on a hill, gazing up at the night. Turlough was asleep, snoring softly, allowing for Tegan and the Doctor to have a private conversation. Well, if they wanted to anyway.

Tegan stared at the stars. They were beautiful. The silver dots of light with swirls of nebula and space clouds, and what looked like clouds of dust…

"Doctor?"

"Hmm?"

"Is star dust real?"

He turned to her. "That was a little out of the blue."

She shrugged. "Just wondering."

"Well, most human scientists would say no. But it does."

"What is it?"

" It is when a star explodes into a nebula and some of it happens to land on a planet. Basically, it's dust."

Teagan nodded and closed her eyes. The air was cool and pleasant, and the imagery of the sky was burned into her mind.

"I actually have some."

"Some what?" she asked.

"Stardust."

She opened her eyes and looked at him. "Really?"

He nodded and sat up, pulling a small container out of his pocket. It was round and grey, with a screw on top.

She sat up as well and caught it when he tossed it to her. Slowly, she opened it. And her mouth fell open.

The dust was a gorgeus shade of blue, with purple and silver flecks scattered in it. An unearthly, but not at all unenjoyable, scent filled her nostrils.

"It's… beautiful."

He smiled his small, warm smile. "You can have it if you want."

"Really?" she asked, confused as to why he would want to part with it.

"Of course. Consider it a late birthday present."

"Well thank yo… birthday?"

"Well you have one eventually don't you?" he asked before laying back down on the grass.

Teagan rolled her eyes and put the lid back on before putting the case in her pocket. She now had her own little piece of the universe. At least traveling with the Doctor wasn't always a dangerous feat.

Simply written on a whim, and the fact that the Fifth Doctor seemed to fit better than any other incarnation. I don't know how much more of him I'll write… I see how this one settles with you lovely massess.
