Little did Giselle know, that not too far from her forest, an old hag was eavesdropping the entire time. Also, that old hag was Prince Edward's long lost grandmother. "Ah, a sense a romance stirring up," she lisped quietly in her most mischievous voice ever. "I must not let that happen." She never liked Edward meeting a woman, because she was always worried that if he got married to one of them, he would forget about her forever. In short, the hag was selfish. She then went to her cauldron and hunted for a plan to kill Giselle so she and Edward won't wed. Later on, she found a book of recipes, flipped through it, and found a recipe for the Poisoned Apple. "Yes!" she exclaimed. "A special type of death for one so fair." The hag then read the recipe, it said, "One taste of the Poisoned Apple will make the victim's eyes close forever in the sleeping death. Mix together: belladonna, henbane, acconite, jimsonweed, and white snakerroot. Then dip the apple in the brew, and watch the poison sleep through. Afterward, the apple will turn blood-red to tempt the victim's hunger for a bite."

The hag's eyes widened at this, and she did exactly what the book told it to. When the process, was finished, she was happy to know that she could finally kill Giselle and that her grandson will NEVER be married. "Haha," the hag cackled. "Now I just need to give this apple to Giselle, and she will be dead for all eternity!" The hag walked down the stairs, put the apple in the basket along with the other apples, got in the canoe, and rowed away. Meanwhile, Giselle was talking to two of her animals friends named "Rabbit" and "Pip". Pip was a chipmunk. "Why didn't you talk to him?" Rabbit said. "I was just nervous," Giselle retorted. "But I will have a chance next time, I believe it." Pip gave her a jealous look. "You are not going to forget about me, are ya?" he asked curiously. "Oh Pip," she began. "You know I would never forget about you and all the other animals!" Giselle then turned to the window only to see it was getting kind of dark. So, she brushed her teeth, kissed all her animals good night and went to bed.

At dawn the next morning, Giselle got out of bed and did her usual morning routine. When she was finished, she suddenly became hungry. Her stomach was grumbling. "It sounds like I need something eat." she declared. "Why don't you make a pie?" the birds asked. "Yes," she responded. "I'll make a gooseberry pie! Thank you!" The birds said, "You're welcome!" in riposted. Giselle went to the kitchen, got a pie pan, got some pie crust, collected the gooseberries, put them in the pan, rolled the pie crust flat with a rolling pin, put it on top of the pie pan filled with gooseberries, and cut the edges off with a sharp knife. While doing this, the animals helped her with everything, even decorating it. That's one of the many reason she loved having animals as friends, they were always a great help. Giselle was so happy, and when she gets in a good mood, she sings. But, her musical was interrupted as she noticed her animal friends running away while the room was getting darker and darker. At that moment, she looked up only to let out a gasp of apprehensiveness when she saw a very, very hideous elderly lady.
