Disclaimer: I do not own Katekyo Hitman Reborn.

Characters: Tsuna, Hana.

Warning: AU, in which Hana is Tsuna's friend.

AN: This is supposed to be in a multi-chapter story, but then I lost interest in the idea and it's been lying in my folder for a long time. I'm not quite sure if the rating is correct, since I think 'stupid' might be considered coarse...

Sawada Tsunayoshi, five years old and enrolled in Namimori Kindergarten, was crying. It wasn't a rare sight in the slightest. In fact, the boy spent a lot of his time crying since he was scared of almost everything, from the booming crackle of thunder to the neighbour's small and seemingly harmless Chihuahua.

Kurokawa Hana, the girl who hates children despite being a child herself, and the only friend of Sawada Tsunayoshi, had no idea what had triggered his tears this time though. She had found him hiding in a corner and seated herself a distance away from him as per her usual. Then Tsuna had broken out into tears. At first she ignored it, thinking that it was just one of his silly crying fits. Those usually ended after a few minutes.

Minutes passed by, yet Tsuna showed no sign of stopping. For once, Hana was worried about Tsuna. Despite her claims of not caring about the boy, she did, in fact, care.

Now that she paid attention to him, she noticed that his crying was different from usual. His head was buried into his legs and his hands were wrapped tightly around them. His sniffs were quiet, unlike the usual loud sniffs and whimpers that usually came when he cried.

Hana closed the book she had been reading and strode towards the small boy. "Oi, what's wrong?" Her voice betrayed none of the worry she felt.

The sniffling stopped for a second, but Tsuna didn't raise his head. Instead he buried his head even further into his legs. Hana crossed her arms, annoyed. She was trying to help him here!

She huffed and tried again. "Oi, Tsuna! Tell me why you're crying!"

The boy didn't reply. Hana tried again and again, but to no avail. Her annoyance grew with every second passing by. After a few minutes, her temper finally snapped. She grabbed Tsuna's arms and roughly pulled them away, eliciting a small squeak from the boy. She released his arms and used one hand to pinch his cheek and another to tilt his head up.

"Now." Tsuna quivered under her glare. "Tell me what the problem is."

Tsuna hesitated, but blurted out his worries under the force of her glare.

"H-Hana-chan has Kyoko-chan now…"

Hana frowned, not understanding what the problem was. Why would he cry over that?

"So?"

Tsuna sniffled. "So Hana-chan must not want to be Tsu-kun's friend anymore…"

Hana's frown turned into a surprised expression. That was it? She couldn't believe that the brunet got worked up over such a stupid thing. She sighed and grumbled, "Stupid kid."

Tsuna blinked. "Eh?"

"I hate kids…," Hana muttered under her breath. Then in a louder voice she said, "I'm not going to leave you."

Tsuna's eyes widened and he tried to stammer out something, "B-but everyone else always—"

"Look, I never said anything like that okay? Stop assuming things on your own!" she growled out.

He flinched and nodded with a sniffle. Hana sighed. "You're such a crybaby."

"S-sorry…" He sniffled again.

She glared at him. "Stop crying already. You're so weak."

Tsuna rubbed at his eyes to wipe the remaining tears and stuttered, "S-sorry."

She grumbled and turned her head away from him. "Idiot," she said but she couldn't stop the slight smile from worming its way onto her face at the adorable smile the boy sent her way.

Honestly, the boy was too cute to stay annoyed at sometimes.
