Hermione POV
I snuck a furtive glance around the empty hallway, seeing no one. I pulled the door open, wincing at the groan, then quickly turned around, backed in, and shut it with a click. I let out a sigh. I had made it again, without being noticed.
"So." A voice said from behind me. "Back again?" I let a smile pass through my face, and turned to meet the eyes that had spoken. Draco Malfoy's. Surprise, right? Yeah. After the war, everyone had to return to make up the last year. Draco and I had…connected, in a way. We just started talking one day, in the solitude of the library, then gradually became closer.
"What, did you expect me to leave you hanging?" I said playfully, slowly walking over to the teacher's desk, where he was lounging. The smile faded, and he pushed himself off the desk, and came closer to me.
"One day. I think one day, you will." All happiness was gone from his expression, and a look of apprehension flash in his eyes.
"What?" I responded, totally lost. "One day, I think we will have to leave each other. Someone finds out, we grow up, whatever the reason, we will have to separate." I shook my head slowly, speechless.
"But…I love you…" I said, catching his eyes, and tried to convey the truth of the statement. "I love you." I repeated. "Forever." Surprise, happiness, then a look of sadness crossed his face.
"Forever isn't always, Granger." He said, striding briskly past me. I couldn't move. The feeling of abandonment overwhelmed my sense, not hearing the pause in his footsteps, not hearing the muttered confession, not hearing the door click closed. By the time I turned around, he was long gone. No matter how broken I was, I knew that there would be no tears shed tonight. I had already cried over him far too much.
A/N So, this was a total plot bunny, I don't even like it that much….but I have a zillion plot bunnies scampering around my mind, crapping on the stories I'm actually trying to continue, so I'm setting them free. Enjoy! Review, it doesn't take long at all….
