DM Christmas Catastrophe
It was yet another Christmas approaching for the Grus. Snow was steadily falling non-stop. Gru and the rest of the family were busy decorating the Gru residence once again. Gru stayed silent as he hung some tinsel in the long hallway. Hopefully there wouldn't be anything badly wrong as there had in Christmases gone by.
''Dere doesn't the house look splendid?'' Gru said, admiring all the family's hard work. ''Oh oh yes it sure does!'' Agnes pipped. ''Now den'' Gru said ''while Lucy collects the tree, why don't you girls and me go the park for a little while?''.
''Awsome!'' Edith exclaimed. When they got there they saw that everywhere was white and frosted with ice, the big lake was completely frozen over. Ducks were pecking franticly at it. Edith was so amazed by the sight of the frozen that she didn't notice the sign telling everyone to keep off the thin ice.
Before Edith could do anything else, her legs had dropped right through the ice! Luckily where Edith had been standing the water was shallow so it didn't even go as far as her knees. ''Arrgh help!'' Edith shouted ''I'm stuck!''. Margo and Agnes ran quickly to fetch Gru.
Together they pulled Edith clear of the icy cold water, but then Gru noticed a big block of ice had frozen around Edith's feet for being in the water for so long. ''I..I..I can't walk!'' Edith shivered weakly. ''Come on den girls'' Gru sighed ''We need to get home fast!''.
Once they were in the warmth of the Gru residence. Gru borrowed Lucy's flamethrower and blasted the ice block on Edith's very numb feet. Even though the ice was melted off, Edith found that she still couldn't move any of her toes.
Gru pulled off her boots to see why, ''As I thought'' he declared ''Frostbite!''. He turned to Margo ''Margo can you go and fill a bowl with warm water. Edith needs to thaw out her toes!''. Margo did so and placed on the floor. Gru told Edith to stick her feet into the bowl and sit like that for quite a while. He also left her the remote so she could watch the TV so that she wouldn't get bored.
When Christmas Day arrived. Edith opened one of her presents to find several pairs of thick woolly socks and a note '''Heard about your Christmas catastrophe. Still well away from icy ponds and read the safety signs in the future, Signed S.C''
Edith had learned another lesson once more. Never again would she take a chance with a frozen pond.
The End
