Lily and Severus kept in touch after Lily married James. Severus never told her he was working for Voldemort. They got together every few months and caught up. Only while James was at work though, because Severus never again wanted to see the man that stole the love of his life. After Harry was born, Lily started getting letters from Sev. She didn't understand why he didn't come see her anymore, and he wouldn't tell her why. The truth was, Sev went to see her because he thought he could win her over, even though he'd never told her of his love. After Lily had a baby, he knew that she would never change her mind. Once in a letter, she demanded to see him and told him where and when she'd be. If he didn't come, she wouldn't reply to another letter. Ever. Sev contemplated on what he should do. He didnt want to see her because he did t want to make her unhappy. He didn't want her to stop writing because that was the only connection he'd ever have with her. He decided to go.
Severus walked into the pub that Lily said she'd be at, and looked around for her. She sat in the farthest corner, holding a bundled blanket. He walked over to her and sat across from her and the baby.
"Sev!" Lily exclaimed.
"Lily." he replied.
Then Lily's face turned angry. "Why don't you want to see me anymore?" "I've been busy." Sev said. "Oh." Lily frowned. He knew he was lying, but she dropped the subject. "Sev, I want you to meet Harry." she handed him the baby boy, even though he started to refuse. He looked at Harry, who was wide awake. He had Lily's eyes. The rest was James' face, and it disgusted him. But he didn't show it. He handed the baby back to Lily and then got up. "Are you leaving? You just got here!" lily asked. "Yes. I can't see you anymore. I- I'm sorry." he turned, and he heard her start to cry. "But why, Sev? Why can't it be like when we were children?" He turned back to her and said, "You were placed in Gryffindor. I was placed in Slytherin. Slytherins always go bad." Lily frowned. "But you're not a bad person, Sev." "Yes. I am. I've done bad things in my life. Joined the wrong side. I don't want Him to hurt you for that." he stared into Lily Potter's eyes for the last time, then walked out of the pub. The next time he saw eyes like those, it was about 10 years later on the first day of school. That night, he wept. He wept for the girl he loved since childhood. He wept for the boy who would never feel the love of his mother. Most of all, he wept because he would see those eyes every day for 7 years.
