Authors Note: This chapter has been edited! This chapter was definitely a weak one before so I switched some stuff up to make it better. There's only so much I could add though, so it's still rather short.
This story was a fun idea I had a while ago after watching the movie "The Vow". I hope you enjoy
Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: the Last Airbender. Considering I'm 14 (edit: I'm 15 now, and will be 16 later this year) and I would've been like a 6 year old prodigy if I did.
Chapter One: Departure
Katara slept peacefully beside the airbender she had inevitably fallen in love with; Aang. To the untrained eye, they were normal kids. But the 14 and 16 year olds were heroes, and a figure of the perfect couple. There were relatively no fights and it was clear that Aang would always treat her right. When people thought of what they wanted their love lives to be, they thought 'Lady Katara' and 'Avatar Aang'. And although some people insisted it was just them simply being young and foolish, their minds were soon changed when they saw the two together, acting as though they had lived their lives together for years. There were always jealous girls and boys of course, but none of this detoured them. They were in love, and working hard and happily together every day.
Currently, Katara had her arm across the usually bald airbender's bare chest. At the moment, his hair was growing out once again. Katara had previously confessed that she found him very attractive with hair. Actually, she absolutely adored it. Although, his light blue arrow was still poking out prominently through thick strands of hair as he moved his head to look at his sleeping waterbender girlfriend. Unfortunately, today the Earth King had summoned him to the palace to talk about more peace things, most of which he had heard a billion times. He didn't really have time to just enjoy Katara's presence. Most days, Katara would accompany him, but on some occasions she would stay behind to rest or plan trips and other appearances Aang would have to make. Today was one of the days Katara was planning a trip to go the Northern Watertribe where she would plan lessons for future master waterbenders.
Aang smiled down at her and gently kissed her forehead, not wanting to wake her. Graceful as always, he removed her arm and got out of bed. He began getting ready, getting into his air nomad clothing that draped over one shoulder. He was all set to go when he remembered his hair. Combing it was one thing he hated, and he had been meaning to shave it off for days now but had simply never had the time. He preferred a clean shaven head. He felt it was more professional and enjoyed remaining true to his people. But with no time and a fond Katara, there wasn't much to be done. For now, he would just have to continue the search for his comb.
"Darn comb! Where is it?!" He grumbled quietly to himself while looking through the dresser.
"Third drawer down," Katara replied, causing a surprised Aang to jump.
"Whoa! Oh morning sweetie. Did I wake you?" He asked, his heart slowing down.
"I sort of woke when you moved my arm," she confessed, shrugging.
"I'm sorry," he apologized, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "I have to leave to see the Earth King again today."
"I know I know, because of all the stupid peace ideas," she complained sadly.
Aang walked over and pecked her lips. She sighed.
"I'll be here when you get back. I might go visit some of the Kyoshi warriors, Sokka said they're back in Ba Sing Se for a little bit," Katara explained.
"Well I'll be back as soon as I can, hopefully before dinner so I can shave this hipporats nest off my head," Aang said scratching his head and then heading to the mirror to comb his hair. Katara laughed and then laid back down.
"I'll see you soon sweetie," he said a few moments later as he grabbed his glider and headed for the door.
Katara sighed and replied, "Bye sweetie."
It wasn't long after that Katara finally rose from her bed and got dressed. She grabbed some waterbending scrolls to study to see which moves she should start with for her first lessons coming up and headed down to the Jasmine Dragon.
"Good Morning Katara, would you like some of my famous Jasmine tea?" he asked cheerfully.
"That'd be lovely, thank you Iroh," she smiled. She sat in sipping her tea a making note of certain beginner moves. All of the sudden there was a crash from outside and a few screams. It was then that a young boy came bursting through the door.
"Help! Some men just hurt my mommy with some water!" The earthbender child yelped.
"Waterbenders?!" Katara thought quickly, "Rebels!"
"Someone send word the Avatar and firelord at the Earth palace!" Katara yelled as she ran to the boy.
"See that door over there, there's a man named Iroh in there. Tell him what happened and stay with him okay? You'll be safe there. I'm going to go help your mommy!" Katara explained to the child urgently. She then dashed out the door.
How was it? Better?
