DISCLAIMER: I don't own anything concerning Final Fantasy, but this story.

A/N: I'm terribly sorry. That YUNA story did NOT cut out for me. So now I'm writing a whole new, new story. It of course centers on Yuna, my all time favorite FF character, and several other stuff. As I said, A Vacation In Your Arms will still be continued, I'm just practically brain dead. Anyways, here we go!

Prologue: Carpe Diem

"Seize the Day"

Y.

I am a 17 year old girl who plans everything in life, I honestly do not have much fun, but I do know that holding out on all of this "fun" people speak of will soon come in handy once I finish all the "boring" stuff first, which, of course, would take a long amount of time. If you think I seem odd, you would certainly be left out in my school, Lady Yunalesca Preparatory School. There are several people who act like me walking in the halls. Also, once I get out of this school, I must graduate as valedictorian of the class. Although, there is competition to gain this position, and the fiercest one out of the several other students in line would have to be my ex-best friend, Lenne.

Lenne and I were friends from elementary school to junior high school and we would also compete against each other for certain positions, in a friendly way, like our elementary school's student council president, or so on. Although, once we attended Lady Yunalesca's, that friendly, harmless rivalry turned more into us being each other's arch-nemesis. Lenne and I were told that we looked the same, but we were completely different from one another. For example, I was more of that book worm that studies constantly and has no love life, while Lenne was the one who procrastinates, crams, and flirts all the while.

"You must not let Lenne win the position as valedictorian! She would certainly not deserve it." My friend Shelinda said to me as my other two friends and I sat in one of Bevelle's cafes to do our homework and study.

"She's right Yuna, Lenne probably cheated her way to get herself into a position she is in right now, most likely just to get to you." Elma, another one of my friends, said as she sipped her coffee from her cup.

"Lenne," Lucil giggled and flipped the page of her AP Spiran History book and still stared attentively at it, "I've always wondered how she even was qualified to attend Lady Yunalesca."

"Anyways, you guys, I've been thinking of a way to achieve my goal of a 5.0 GPA," I took a sip of my coffee and set it back down on the table, "during our Winter Break, I've been thinking of taking some AP and college classes for our two weeks of vacation."

Elma smiled and took a bite out of her blueberry muffin, "That's a wonderful idea, Yuna! I'm pretty sure in no time you will beat Lenne."

"Not only will she beat Lenne," Shelinda gave a cheeky smile and placed a strand of her brunette hair behind her ear, "Yuna would probably also be asked out by Shuyin as well."

"Really? No way!" Elma responded.

"You haven't heard, Elma? Well, Shuyin's planning to ask a certain someone, who's most likely going to be valedictorian, over winter break." Lucil said very delighted.

I blushed a little, but stared at my notebook to hide it from my three friends. Shuyin was the star blitzer of our school, but not only was he wonderful physically, but academically as well. Shuyin had a 4.3 GPA, wanted to find the cure for the common cold, and have his part time job as a blitzer. It may sound childish, but it's very impressive in my book. I've always considered Shuyin as another one of my good friends, but not very close as in always sitting together at lunch, class, or whatever. Our friendship was usually based on saying "hello" and having a small conversation every time we see each other.

About an hour later, Elma, Shelinda, Lucil, and I departed the café and went our separate ways home. It was Friday today and winter break was starting tomorrow, meaning that my classes would start immediately on Monday. Once I walked into my house, the contrast between the cold, freezing air outside, and the warm, heated air in my house relaxed me a little. I ran up the hardwood floored staircase and placed my jacket and shoes upstairs in my room. Once I walked back downstairs, I spotted my father sitting on the leather couch reading a new book of his.

My family is filled with overachievers, for example, my Mother graduated from high school at the age of 16 and got a PhD at the age of 19 or 20. While my father lived by himself at the age of 15, once his parents passed away, and took care of himself, paying the bills, taxes, and actually even getting a wonderful job at a very young age, of which he is now the CEO of. I don't have any siblings, younger or older, so it is up to me to continue this family legacy on to myself, my children, grandchildren, and possibly great-grandchildren (if I'm still alive).

"Hello, Yuna," once I approached my father he kissed me on the top of my head, closed his book, and took a sip of tea out of his mug, "how was your day today?"

"It was great, Dad! Elma, Lucil, Shelinda, and I studied at Café Shiva and conversed on what us four are individually doing over winter break." I responded enthusiastically.

My father just looked up at me and smiled, "I'm glad you had fun. Now you just keep up with your studies, and you will soon become valedictorian of your class."

Then my mother walked in with her usual graceful posture, "Dinner is ready, you two."

I walked to our formal dining room table and sat down, waiting for one of our servants to bring in the dinner plate. Another servant handed me a handkerchief and placed it on my lap. I waited for my parents to sit at the table to proceed eating my dinner. When I turned around to look through the archway of the kitchen, they seemed to be having an intense conversation on a subject I do not know about. Although, I'm quite sure that they would reveal it once they sat on the table.

Our dinner was getting cold once they joined the table, and I was pretty starved. My parents ate in silence while I stared at them in a completely concerned stare and continued eating my dinner. Once we all finished our plates, my mother and father were silently discussing something, while having a grim expression on their faces. My father looked disappointed, while my mother looked like she was about to cry. Was it something I did? I could try and take classes on the weekends as well!

"Yuna, sweetheart…" My mother sighed, "Is it fine if your father and I change your plans over winter break?"

"Sure, you're welcomed to do so, Mother. It's fine if you want me to take even advanced classes on the weekends, or the holidays. I don't mind!" I just smiled at them, but lowered my grin when my parents looked at me as if I didn't get the point.

"Yuna," My father placed one hand over my shoulder, "your mother and I have planned to send you to Zanarkand, with your Uncle Cid."

I was shocked, disappointed, angered, all of the words that compare with my feelings! I was planning to gain my 5.0 GPA before Lenne, and before school starts again in January!

"Mother, Father! Couldn't you have discussed it with me before you actually send me off to Zanarkand? What about my 5.0 GPA? What am I supposed to do?" I stood from my chair and was about to cry but my mother followed suit and hugged me.

"School doesn't fully end for a few months, right? You do have plenty of time, sweetheart." My mother tried to comfort me but I still had an angered feel towards them.

"But, Mother! There are several girls willing to take my soon-to-be spot of valedictorian! They are taking AP classes over break and doing community service, while I'm all the way in Zanarkand, the city of never-ending parties, and drunken people driving around!" I sobbed onto my mother's shoulder, I could not believe that they were planning to ruin this dream I've always had since the day I promoted from my elementary school.

"It's for your own good, Yuna," My father patted my shoulder, "you are leaving tomorrow. So I suggest you pack up, honey."

I sobbed even more, I probably wouldn't even be able to visit my friends to comfort me before I go. Maybe I could take classes in Zanarkand, but that really wouldn't matter. There probably aren't any near Uncle Cid's house, or in his district. They live in Zanarkand A-East, the center of the all these never-ending parties.

"I'm sorry Yuna, but we promise you. It's the best that we can do for you after all these years." My father sighed.

I was confused! They did several great things for me. My parents bought this wonderful mansion for me to live in. Bought several fashionable clothes for me, and even enrolled me in the greatest school in Spira! What more can they do for me?

Objective: Chapter One finished! Thank you guys for cooperating with me, through this whole can't decide on a story thing. Okay, now I'm gonna have to be rotating two stories now.
