She had drifted off to sleep in her seat on the jet. The attendant on the plane had covered her with a blanket noticing she had gotten cold. But the co-pilot came back to wake her up they were going to start their approach to Gotham City. She was returning from St. Petersburg and London where she had been packing the things she wanted to keep and others that would remain at the former places she lived to be sold. A voice gently woke her from her sleep, "Excuse me, Mrs. Wayne." The co-pilot said to her as she woke up. "I'm sorry for disturbing your nap, ma'am but we are getting ready to land in Gotham City."

Anastasia Wayne looked around her, "Oh, ok. Thank you very much, Jason." She answered him beginning to pull herself together checking over her jeans and sweater then pulling on her boots after kicking them off for the flight. She looked forward to returning home at last. The two weeks she spent in London and St. Petersburg allowed her to place her prior life in the past finally. But it was lonely; her new husband of one month, Bruce had to remain in Gotham City to handle the business of Wayne Enterprises. There was the constant worry as well of his second part of life as Batman that stuck in her mind at night when she could not sleep. She worried that he would be hurt and she couldn't be there. But today she was coming home and she would be back at his side.

Moments later, she was stepping off the plane but there was someone missing. Alfred, the Wayne family butler, met her at the airport. "Welcome home, Mrs. Wayne." He said helping her off of the Wayne Jet.

"Thank you, Alfred. Where's Bruce? I thought he would be here today." She asked him.

"Mr. Wayne unfortunately has been held at Wayne Enterprises today. He sent an apology in the Rolls, ma'am."

"Oh. That busy." She said disappointedly.

"There have been attacks on Wayne holdings since you left for London. Batman and the police can't find any answers to it." Anna stood and thought for a moment taking in what Alfred had told her.

"Alfred, I need to go to the city for a while. There are trunks of my personal things from London and St. Petersburg on the plane. Is the Manor finished?"

"Not quite, Ma'am. I'll see that they get to the penthouse though. The Jaguar is here for your use as well."

"You always think of everything, Alfred." She said smiling at him. She went to the backseat of the Rolls which was sitting nearby. She found a bouquet of her favorite peach roses waiting for her with a note. Also a blue box set nearby. She read the note first. Welcome home, Mari. I'm so sorry I can't be there today. Business is really crazy today. I can't wait to see you when I get home. Love you always. Bruce. She smiled as she turned to the box. Inside the box she found a locket. She picked it up and found a picture from their wedding inside and engraved on the front were their initials. She slipped it on and walked still smiling to the Jaguar with the flowers in her arm.

She quietly drove to downtown Gotham and pulled up in front of the Wayne Tower headquarters for Wayne Enterprises. Her door was opened for her. "Welcome back from your trip, Mrs. Wayne." The valet said as he helped her out of the car.

She stepped from the car, and answered seeing his name tag, "Thank you, Andrew." She walked through the lobby causing whispers but continued to the Front Desk smiling at being closer to her goal. "Hello, Michael." She said greeting the guard at the front.

"Welcome home, Mrs. Wayne." Michael answered.

"Is Mr. Wayne in his office?" she asked.

"I believe so, ma'am. I can call up and check for you." He offered.

"No, thank you. I want to surprise my husband." She said heading off to the elevators. She stepped off at the top floor as it was flooded by bright light and beautiful views of the city around them. She smiled as Jessica; her husband's secretary answered her phone. She stopped at her desk and waited for a moment. "Hi, Jessica. How are things today?"

"Hello, Mrs. Wayne. With the attacks it has been stressful. I don't think he slept well lately. He looked really tired this morning and a little cranky. My theory is he misses you. How was Europe?"

"I missed him too. It was nice but lonely after having Bruce to myself for two weeks. I understood though that the business needed him here. But I got spoiled in Venice and Paris."

"I bet. It sounds like a wonderful time. Oops, phone's ringing. He's in there doing paperwork right now."

"Ah, ok. I'm going to sneak in. Thought a surprise might brighten his day considering he couldn't make it to the airport."

"Understood, Mrs. Wayne." Jessica said laughing as she returned to her phones.

Anna walked quietly to his office door and knocked. "Come on in, Jessica." He called out to answer the door.

As she opened the door and walked in his office, she said, "I'm not Jessica, but I can still come in right?"

His eyes lit up as he walked to meet her. "Mari! Welcome home, wife. I missed you." He pulled her into a hug and kissed her deeply.

"Hmmm, now that is what I missed at the airport." She said stretching up to hugging him back. "But I understand things have been busy here. What's going on, Bruce?" she said looking up at him.

He went back to his desk and looked at the papers in front on him shaking his head. "There have been attacks on Wayne Enterprises holdings for two weeks. But there is no logic to any of it. Lucius and I can't see any pattern to this. Even my night investigations can't give me any answers." He said.

"Bruce, you look exhausted. Have you been getting any sleep?" she asked concerned.

"A little. But it's been busy here and a little lonely at the penthouse without you." He said quietly as she walked next to him. He hugged her and then pulled her into his lap. She smiled as she breathed in his cologne and felt completely home at last. She picked up the phone on his desk and called out to Jessica.

"Jessica, does Mr. Wayne have any other meetings today?"

"No, ma'am."

"Good. If anyone calls, Mr. Wayne is headed home. He's spending time with his wife who just came back from Europe. He'll be back at work tomorrow." She hung up and looked at him. He was surprised and raised an eyebrow at her. "You need to rest, let's go. I'm taking you home." She said standing up.

He knew how stubborn she could be and knew she was right though. He pulled his things together and they walked hand-in-hand out of his office and the building.

Within moments, they returned to their penthouse. "Alfred, are you back?" Anna called out. "We're home."

"Yes, Miss Anna. I'm here. Did I hear you say 'We're home.'?" Alfred said coming out of the kitchen.

"Yeah, I brought him home." She said walking with Bruce to the living room.

"Good, no offense sir." Alfred said as Bruce looked surprised at him. "You need more sleep, sir. You've been pushing too much lately."

"Ok, that's it. Let's go, Mr. Wayne." She said as pushed him upstairs to rest. "You need your sleep." When they got to their room, he took off his coat and tie and lay down on their bed. She took off her boots and her coat and curled up next to him. They both fell asleep feeling safe at home together at last.

She woke several hours later. He was still sleeping. She quietly snuck out of their room. She walked down to the living room. Alfred had just finished straightening up papers Bruce had brought home from the office during the time she was gone. "Hello Alfred." She said as she walked in the room and sat on the couch.

"Did you sleep well, Mrs. Wayne?" Alfred asked.

"Yes, the first time since we left Paris. He was still sleeping when I came down."

"Good. His nighttime activities have kept him far too busy. He needed more sleep but would not listen to me." Alfred said. "Can I offer you something to eat, ma'am?"

"Oh, no, thank you, Alfred. I picked up a stomach virus or flu in Europe. I haven't quite cleared it yet. I'll wake up and be nauseous. Then later in the day, most food doesn't seem to sit right and I'll be sick later." She said quickly.

"How long have you been dealing with this, Miss Anna?" Alfred asked concerned.

"It will be a week tomorrow. If it doesn't clear up, I've been thinking about heading to a doctor. Especially after falling asleep on the flight home today, something I've never done before." She said

"Not a bad idea." Alfred said.

"What's not a bad idea, Alfred?" Bruce asked walking in. He had changed out of his suit into a pair of relaxed slacks and shirt.

"I've had a little stomach bug I caught in St. Petersburg. If it doesn't clear up tomorrow, I've been thinking about seeing a doctor." Anna said as Bruce came to sit next to her.

"Just make sure you take care of yourself, Mari." Bruce said as he held her close. "You just came home to me. I want you around for a long time, wife."

"I want to be here for a long time too." She said curling next to him placing a kiss on his cheek.

"Sorry to interrupt, Master Bruce." Alfred said walking in. "The other phone started ringing."

Bruce took the phone and lowered his voice to the raspy Batman tones he used to protect those he cared for. "Batman here." He said answering. Mari felt him change and tense as the call continued. "Understood. I'll be there shortly." Bruce continued then he hung up the phone.

"You need to go, don't you?" she asked him.

"Yeah, there's been another attack on Wayne holdings."

"Ok, I understand. Just be safe and come back to me please." She asked.

"I will, Mari." He said as he kissed her gently and turned to leave.
