Somewhere in the middle of the ocean…

Razor sighed in bliss as he sunbathed atop his ship, which was bobbing at the surface of the water. "Isn't this great?" he asked Skeen, who was lying next to him.

"Yeah. No evil schemes, no Chaos Emeralds, and no threat of death. What could be better than this?"

Killowatz came out of a hatch next to them, carrying three glasses of sparkling water. He gave them one each, then put on a fresh coat of sunscreen and joined them.

"Yep, this is the life." Razor smiled, toasting his drink before taking a sip.

Then his wristwatch beeped.

He sat up and looked at it. It showed a map of a 50-mile radius around them. For the past three weeks, it had shown nothing but ocean, with a few tiny islands scattered about.

But now, at the northeast edge of the map, he could see land.

Razor looked northeast; indeed, there it was. "Finally, some land!" he got up, dropping his glass with a 'CRACK!'. "I was getting bored of just sitting here!"

Skeen looked at him, then at Killowatz, who did his best to shrug without shoulders.

"Skeen, please set a course for the land. It's about time we returned."

Meanwhile, on Angel Island...

The Tornado touched down on the airstrip, coming to a stop, and out came Tetra, Frizz, Tails, and Knuckles. Immediately, they could tell that something was amiss; all the Badniks on the island were up and running, just as Knuckles had said.

Tetra cracked his knuckles and tails, then Knuckles and Tails cracked theirs. They all ran towards a group of them, breaking them the only ways they knew how. The bots exploded, showing that they were also vacant of animals.

They broke more bots until a path was cleared, and they approached the ruins of Echidnopolis, the ancient home of Knuckles' species.

When they got there, they were relieved to find it mostly free of robots. Knuckles led them to the chamber containing the Master Emerald itself, where it sat glowing in its holder.

"Alright, Frizz, can you figure this out?" Tetra asked his friend.

Frizz examined the Emerald. "I may be smart, but that's only with machines. I have no idea how an ancient magical stone works."

Knuckles sighed.

Suddenly, they were all overcome by a wave of psychic energy that seemed to emanate from the Emerald. A feminine voice spoke out in their minds:

The day has come to renew my power

Come back at 1800 hours

And with red paint you must mark

The face of a Megalodon shark.

The energy went away, and they could move again.

"What was that?" Tails asked Knuckles.

"The Elders told me about this. Every 100 years, the Master Emerald needs to renew its power; I think today's the day. Its circumstances and stipulation are always different, which would explain what's going on with the Badniks."

"Well, isn't that super," Tails said sarcastically.

"It wants us to get a Megalodon shark…" Tetra tried to remember where he'd heard that word before. "Wasn't Razor a Megalodon?"

Tails groaned. "He's the ONLY known Megalodon, and we don't know where he is!"

"We're here." Killowatz stated.

Razor yawned, waking up from his nap. "Finally!"

He walked to the ladder and looked out…

At more ocean. "What gives?"

Skeen and Killowatz joined him in the hatch, then looked up and gasped. "Razor…?"

Razor looked at what they were looking at: a large island that was completely suspended out of the water.

"Well, that would explain it…."
