Updated and replaced. I'm so sorry for not updating sooner. I'm taking the story in a different direction now though. So feel free to read from the beginning! I'm planning to update again when I can!
Introduction - Choosing my poison
[Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha, in this chapter or any others. Also, this is the prequel to Finding Hope.]
The moment I laid eyes on him was the moment my life was over. I just didn't know it yet. I had just gotten off of work for the day. Work had been pretty normal. Scanning some building specs. And inputting details for power stations, simple really. Walking to my car on the other had had been heart pumping. Just as I had went to unlock my door a bird landed on the roof of my car with a loud thump. Dead.
"Hey! Jessica!" my roommate, Isabel was across the apartment talking to a few friends. A small get together huh? I remembered her mentioning it last night. Taking off my heels at the door I then made my way to Isabel. She was talking to a man with icy eyes. He reminded me of a blizzard, beautiful and deadly. Yet his voice made me think of the warmth of summer. Later I wouldn't be able to tell anyone what he looked like.
"This is Jashin. A friend of Beth's!" If i remembered correctly Beth was more of an acquaintance than a friend. So that make him a stranger in our apartment? Lovely. "Guess what?" without waiting for me to even ask 'what' she continued in her usual bubbly way. "He loves Anime!"
I smiled. "That's good for you." It wasn't that I hated Anime I just didn't understand her obsession with it. From time to time I would listen to her ranting about ship's and canon's. I even watched some sort of movie with her from time to time, like Hal and Wolf Children. But her large episode list and endless Manga was a huge no for me. It kind of intimidated me. Maybe one day I would watch one of her favorite Anime but not any time soon.
"I was just asking Isabel here what her favorite Anime worlds were." I gave him one of my warmest smiles knowing what was coming next. "I would love to know your favorites as well."
I was so bullshitting my way through this one. All lies and a bunch of random words. "I tend to like them all really. Lately my favorite has been," what was that classic Isa was always talking about? Inubashu? No. Inuysha! "Inuyasha." Usually classics aren't hated so less likely to get asked why I would like it. Also most tend to gush about them and all I would have to do is nod and agree.
"Oh? Really." He took a long sip out of his red solo cup. "Isabel was telling me that was her second to her favorite. But that Naruto would always be her number one. She did list off quiet a few, even some animation made in the US and some Marvel Comics as well. Do you have any interest in anything like that?"
"I tend to be boring, going with whatever Isa is watching. Though I do like Deadpool."
He smirked at me and with his hand he suddenly pushed me backwards. I was falling though thick blackness in the next moment. It was cold, freezing like falling down a cavern in a glacier. Dark and freezing. Time stretched on.
