It had started out like any other day. Rachel was driving out to meet her dad at his office, to surprise him with lunch. She had been humming along with the radio and keeping her eyes on the road, so she didn't miss the sports car speeding up behind her. She tried to move to the side, to let him pass, but the car moved with her. Riding right up on his bumper. She gasped as she felt her car jerk forward. Her food hit the breaks but it was too late.

The sports car hit her car again, and set it careening into the ditch. Over turning and flipping before finally coming to a stop. The sports car drove off, leaving Rachel's car in the ditch. It was starting to smoke, but Rachel was already unconscious. Bleeding from a head wound, and from her legs.

A hour later the New Directions sat in the waiting room of the hospital waiting for information on their diva. But none came. Five hours passed without a word. The cops had found the red sports car down the road a ways, crashed into the side of an over pass. The driver was killed instantly, and had a blood alcohol level that should have killed him.

It was almost ten hours later when they got news, and it wasn't good.

Rachel was alive, but might not make it through the night. She had lost a large amount of blood, and one of her legs. Her ribs were nearly all broken, and her arm as broke in four places. She also had massive head trauma. If she did survive the night, she was might never be able to function in society again.

The members of New Directions all felt the pain of Rachel's dads as the collapsed into each other's arms. Finn was blank as Kurt clung to his arm. Blaine was holding one of Kurt's hands as Mercedes buried her face into his shoulder. Santana and Brittney were both clinging to each other, as Artie hung his head and silently started to prey with Quinn. Puck had been leaning against the wall, and slunk down to collapse on the ground. Mike and Tina were clinging to each other, and Mike was trying to whisper words of comfort to Tina. Mr Shue had Emma in his lap, holding her tightly as Shelby clung to his arm and cried. Beth was tucked safely into her crib, unaware of what was happening around her.

That night no one slept, and in the morning they bid goodbye to their friend.

Rachel Berry had died in the night from the injuries she obtained in the accident.
