I Can't Lie
Summary: Gabriella can't lie and Sharpay can't tell the truth. Can they ever be happy together? Gabpay.
I can't lie anymore.
It's just so hard.
When she asks what's wrong,
I can't lie.
Before I knew it,
She'd know everything and it wouldn't be a secret.
If he got curious about our relationship,
I couldn't lie.
No matter how many classes I take,
No matter how many hearts it breaks,
I can't lie.
If they look at me once more like that,
I'd feel the need to blurt out the answer.
But I wouldn't.
Because you need me to keep it a secret.
I'm so stupid for getting into this,
But I find it hard to believe,
I'm enjoying this.
The lies,
The sneaking around,
The glimpses,
The glances,
The stares,
The notes.
All of it.
But I can't continue to lie.
So if we can't tell the truth,
And I can't lie,
Then what are we going to do?
Because I just can't lie anymore.
Gabriella Montez sighed and slid back into her seat as she finished reading her poem to her English class. Her professor, Gary Trellmen, applauded along with the rest of the class.
"Now Ms. Montez, let's test this theory. Since this poem came from the heart, who was it directed to?"
"My secret lover." She gave a small laugh at his curious face. "Don't even dare ask who because, I can't tell you."
"Now, why not? Is he dating someone or are you? Is it because he's rich and you're not?"
"No, we are both single. Except we are dating each other. We both make around the same a year." She gave a small smile at her friends in the back. Even though they knew nothing about her mysterious lover, they applauded her for her incredible cunningness and her quick thinking. Her teacher gave up as the bell rang, and the students ran out of the building, eager to go home and escape from the college grounds. Gabriella snuck into the alley and turned down a street to her lover's apartment. She opened the door anxiously and ran up the complex's steps, ignoring the open elevator.
"Gabi, is that you?" A voice rang through the apartment's hallway.
"Yes, and I have news!" She ran up and kissed her on the lips.
"Well, what is it?" Sharpay Evans asked impatiently.
"I figured a way around it. The lying! I simply just say lover instead of boyfriend or girlfriend and answer all the other questions truthfully." Sharpay sighed one last time.
"I still don't understand why you just can't lie. You are almost a better actress than I am." Gabriella smirked at her haughtiness.
"Because, Shar. I have a self-conscious. Yours went away in kindergarten according to Taylor." At the name of Gabriella's best friend, Sharpay's nose scrunched up.
"I don't like you talking to her, you know that." Gabriella sighed.
"Shar, I'm not going to run off with any of my female or male friends. You are the only person I would even try to lie for. And you know I can't lie." And with that, the conversation was over. Gabriella still couldn't lie, Sharpay couldn't tell the truth, and yet they couldn't ever be anymore happier.
Okay, so it wasn't my best work, but I needed a dose of my monthly Gabpay and this was it. BTW the poem at the top was written by me. I would really appreciate reviews on it. Thanks!
