Walking to her place, a bouquet of roses in hand. It was harder than it had first seemed. Although it was her birthday so he felt he should at least pay her a visit and buy her something.
Even if he believed that he was the last person she wanted to see. She had made if clear a few times that she wasn't particularly fond of him.
He hesitantly raised his hand and knocked on her door. Taking a deep breath as he heard her footsteps grow closer. It was too late to back out now. Ema opened the door, a look of shock on her face. She definitely wasn't expecting him to show up.
"Happy birthday." He smiled at her.
"You... remembered?" She was quite surprised, she didn't think Klavier ever even paid attention to her yet he knew it was her birthday.
She thought she should at least let him in since he was one of the only people to make an effort to see her in her birthday.
"Uh... these are for you." He handed her the bouquet.
She smiled. "Thanks, that's really nice of you, who would ever guess that you, Klavier Gavin, are a sweetheart under that huge ego?" She joked.
"Well, I can be nice. Sometimes."
The two of them were sat besides each other, an awkward silence was in the room for a moment or two.
"Um, you know, if I'm honest, I'm surprised you came. I wasn't expecting it. I wasn't expecting anyone to be honest..."
"Well, no one likes to be alone on their birthday."
She smiled. It was weird though. She never thought of Klavier as a friend, but she began to develop, what she would call 'strange feelings'.
She cleared her throat. "Klavier, I... I think I owe you an apology..."
"An apology? What for, Fräulein?"
Neither of them thought this day would ever come. Ema always believed strongly in what she first thought about Klavier, however her opinion had changed over time.
"I was wrong about you. You're not just some fop with a big ego. I really appreciate that you came to see me today. Oh and I really like the roses you bought for me." She smiled at him.
Klavier was happy that he was able to make her smile. She had a beautiful smile, after all.
"I wanted to buy something that matched your beauty, however it wasn't possible to find something as beautiful as you, so I settled on the roses." He looked at her with a cocky smile and she laughed.
"Real smooth, Gavin." She lightly gave him a shove.
She leaned in and kissed his cheek. "You're a good friend."
'Friend'? He has never been called that by her.
"Ema, do you want to know a secret?" He had a plan on how to make his move.
"Yeah?"
He leaned in closer to her. "You reeeaally want to know?"
She nodded.
"Come closer then."
She leaned in until there was only a small space in between them.
"So what is it?" She smiled.
"Well, the thing is..."
Then he closed the space in between them. One of his hands resting on her arm, the other cupping her cheek. At first, she wasn't sure how to respond, she never thought she would ever have feelings for him but... the kiss made her realise there was something there.
So she respond interlocking her hands behind his neck and kissing back. He moved his hands to around her waist and pulled her closer. Once they finally broke apart, Ema had a look of disbelief on her face.
"D-Did we just...?"
"Happy birthday." He smirked at her.
"You're so unpredictable, fop."
"I thought you said I'm not just a fop but a sweet guy?"
"Yes, but you're still a fop." She smiled. "Anyways, thank you for the birthday present."
He smiled, quite proud of himself.
"Don't get all smug now, glimmer-boy."
"You enjoyed it though, didn't you?"
"Well, admittedly, yes, I do like you."
"How have you enjoyed your birthday far?"
"So far... I believe it's been the best birthday ever."
