Just something I typed up in the haze of this morning. I wanted a happier Leaper drabble, so this popped up. Just call this my treat to the readers for not updating A Healing Process for so long. :)
Sam had been her fire.
Once upon a time, he had been her heat and protection; her life. But then, one day, her fire turned on her. It consumed her in an inferno of heartbreak and betrayal until she whittled away to just a pile of ashes. Then, he disappeared, leaving her scarred and cold.
Leah longed for the heat, but what she received was ice. Sharp, prickly ice that made her nose sting and her eyes water when it came too close. She didn't want the ice. She was tired of being cold. But, to her surprise, the ice could skim across her skin and cocoon her in a protective layer of frost. It could slide inside her heart and soothe the burns. And best of all, it would never melt. Leah protested its presence at first. Wouldn't he leave her alone? All she wanted was her fire. But the ice never thawed. And she began to accept it.
Leah soon found that ice could provide her more warmth than fire ever could.
