Daughter to Mother
Summary: Josslyn talks to her mother about her burgeoning feelings for Cameron.
Josslyn bit her lip as she stopped on the bottom step and stared at the back of her mother's head. She felt nervous about the conversation that she was going to pursue. It wasn't that she believed that her mother would judge her. It was more...her mother would have questions. She took a deep breath and steeled her nerves before she walked into the living room and asked, "Mom? Can we talk?"
Carly turned her head to smile at her daughter. "Of course honey. You know you can!" She answered as she patted the seat beside of her.
Josslyn walked over and let her mother hold her hand as she sat down. "Thanks." She murmured as she leaned into her mother slightly. "It's about...Cam."
At those words, Carly reached out to run a hand through her daughter's long blonde locks. "What about him?" She wondered curiously.
The teen swallowed hard and a blush crept up her cheeks. "I..I think I have feelings for him, mom." She whispered.
Carly grinned and that and let out a small laugh. "Oh, believe me. I know that. I realized it weeks ago. That boy has made you so happier than I've seen you even before Oscar broke up with you." She answered.
Josslyn blushed even more deeply at that and buried her head in her hands. "It's so complicated though." She said, voice muffled by her small hands. She pulled them away and then met her mother's eyes. "I mean, he's my best friend. I never meant for this to happen. But since Halloween..I've been thinking of Oscar less and less. I was still curious a few days ago when Kim was here. But...I just..." Her head shook and she let out a groan as she fell back against the cushions. "I don't want Cam to think that I'm rebounding so I can't tell him yet. I guess...I just needed to let this out."
Carly tucked a strand of her daughter's hair behind her ear. "You really care about him, huh?"
The girl nodded frantically. "It's more than just being attracted to him. He's just an amazing friend. He was there for me when you were in Ferncliff. He understood my behavior. He got why I was lashing out and closing myself. How I just wanted to feel something. He's been understanding when I've told him about the only thing that Sonny and dad agree on is me. And my life with you and then my life with dad when I visit him. He's been reassuring since the whole thing with you and Mary Pat on Halloween." She stared down at the maroon sock slippers on her feet with the fox face printed on them.
Carly frowned guiltily at the mention of Ferncliff and Mary Pat. She hated how it affected her daughter. How Nelle's actions affected her. "I'm sorry, honey. I'm sure the detectives will find Mary Pat's real killer soon."
Josslyn threw her arms around her mom at those words. "It's not your fault mom." She uttered into the older woman's shoulder. "I didn't mean to make you feel bad."
Her mother shook her head. "You didn't. I'm just glad you feel comfortable talking to me about all of this. Listen, why don't we go out for pizza? That new italian place just opened up and I know you've been wanting to try it."
The teen nodded in agreement and stood up with her mother, linking arms. She didn't know what was going to happen in the next few days or weeks. But she knew that she could count on her mother to be there for her.
