A/N: Dedicated to Gray. Stay strong, my angel.
Kanaya wouldn't wish to be anywhere else in the world, not so long as she lived in the countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, with the nearest neighbor over half a kilometer away. Humans are social creatures, she thought. But I don't mind the silence. She looked up at the stars, and at the moon, who's luminescent light was a beautiful silverish-blue. She looked up, where all the constellations were visible. Since Earth was far away from anything and everything she'd ever known, the constellations were different. She'd soon adjust, though.
Kanaya sighed, feeling the loneliness seep through her, coursing through her veins. She missed her home, but she didn't ever want to return. What was there to return to? The meteor struck Alternia, taking out those remaining on the planet. Of course, the society wasn't too keen on allowing another species to live amongst them, and the general community looked at her like she was about to leap out and attack them, but things would soon change.
That much, Kanaya knew.
Kanaya wasn't quite sure what, but as much as Kanaya disliked the people that surrounded her everyday life, she'd grown to love the planet itself. Sunsets were something she'd never seen before, as were multiple of the natural, non-human species'. The hummingbird was by far her favorite. She had one who'd oft visit the flowers of which she took care of in her spare time, which was far too often for her liking. She wanted to get on with her life. For the first time in her life, Kanaya wanted to go to school.
