A/N: Ok, I decided to ATTEMPT to do an Inu-Yasha fic, since I'm a fan of it. This is the product. Granted, it's not the BEST Inu-Yasha fic around, I think it's pretty good for me. Now, some quick notes: Yes, I KNOW about the Naraku thing, and YES I know that this isn't entirely 100% accurate, but you know what? That's why there's fanfic. This is not for Inu-Yasha/Kagome fans to read. I do not suggest reading this if you ARE a Inu-Yasha/Kagome fan, because 1) I'm not going to change my mind about being a Inu-Yasha/Kikyo fan just because YOU don't like it; and 2) I will not listen to flames about this just because this is a Inu-Yasha/Kikyo fic somewhat. I only ask that you read it for what it is, and please review when you're done. Thank you.
Disclaimer: I do not own Inu-Yasha. If I did, he would be on a leash now, sitting next to me… Heh, I'll show him how "Sit Boy" should REALLY be used. Lol. Just kidding! ^_^;; But seriously, I don't own it.
Why?
"INU-YASHA!!!"
He turned around to face the source of the sound, and his golden-yellow eyes widen in shock. "K-Kikyo?…" he whispered. How can that be? She was…alive? However, his eyes turned to horror as he heard something whipped through the wind…and looked down just to see the arrow fly into his chest.
The pain struck his body, almost freezing him with horror, and he felt his grip loosen upon the sacred jewel as he dropped it and went flying back to the tree. The arrow now had him pinned up against it, as though he was being mounted on the tree for decoration.
For a moment, his chest swelled up with anger, and he brought back his gaze to the priestess standing before him, his eyes narrowing as he gave her a hateful glare. However, all his anger vanished as he saw tears filling up in her enchanting brown eyes. As much as he hated her for doing this to him, as much as he was mad at her for stealing back the Shikon no Tama from him, he didn't want to see her in pain. A pain sprouted in his heart, apart from the pain caused by the arrow, but another one from within, one of sorrow, seeing her so distraught as he saw tears gently slide down his cheek.
He still loved her. Even though, here they were, trying to kill each other, yelling hateful things back and forth, and he still loved her. Deep down, he knew she loved him as well; he could see it in her eyes, even when she would vow to kill him. A closer look at his beloved Kikyo made him gasp slightly in horror as his eyes widen in shock. The right side of her white satin top was slowly turning into a deep shade of red as a coppery smell filled the air.
Oh my Kami…She's bleeding! he thought, knowing that not only was that wound fatal…it came from his hands. Someone help her!…Someone help her, kuso! he frantically yelled in his mind, still gaping at her with wide eyes. He wanted to reach out, to help her, but the arrow in his chest kept him from acting so. His eyes trailed down to the confinement and was puzzled as he found none of his blood was spilling. But why was that? Unless…
Of course! How could he be that stupid? It was a binding spell! She had never meant to kill him, only to bind him. Still, it left him with the question of why. Did she hate the thought of being with him so much that she decided to only put him to sleep while she died, so she wouldn't have to be with him in the afterlife? Why was she letting him live? Why were they fighting each other? What happened that made their love turn to hate? Why was this all happening? Why did it have to happen to them?
His eyelids felt droopy as he whole body started to fall into the arms of sleep, but still, he had to know. He wasn't about to fall asleep for eternity, wondering why. Slowly and sleepily, he looked to her once more. "K…Kikyo…w-why?…" he asked as he finally succumbed to the enchanted slumber.
And he dreamt of her.
