My first Covert Affairs story. I've developed a new love for the show! Tell me how I do!

Auggie was sitting at his desk in Tech Ops when the phone rang. It took about two seconds for him to realize it was the number he gave to Annie about a week before. But she'd already come home, so why was she using that number he gave her for emergencies. Auggie picked up the phone. "Talk to me."

"Hey Auggie. It's Annie." Annie was sitting down the hall, at her desk on the same floor. The same desk that was probably fifty feet away max.

"Annie Walker. You do realize that we are literally thirty to fifty feet away from each other, right? And that you're using the emergency number I gave you more than a week ago," Auggie asked with a smirk on his face.

"I know Auggie. I didn't think your digits would expire. Even if it wasn't an emergency. Or a need for protocol-breaking," Annie replied. She could hear him grinning, but she took advantage of his good mood.

"Then what can I do for you, Miss Walker? A code, an account, an encryption, a good time tonight. I'm your man."

"I was wondering if you wanted to do something tonight? Maybe get something to eat? Go bar-hopping?" she asked nervously. Annie could be in a hostage situation, held at gunpoint, or be in Joan's office. All of those things weren't as scary as asking Auggie if he wanted to do something with her.

"I would…" Auggie began.

Annie held her breath. She'd been hiding a few "feelings" for Auggie for quite a while now. She didn't want to be pushy. She'd asked Danielle about a "friend at the Smithsonian" who was one of her closest of friends. Annie's mind went back to the phone call. Then the line went dead.

"Auggie? Auggie, you still there?" she asked aloud. She didn't hear the footsteps behind her. A hand turned her around in her chair.

Auggie was sitting above her. "Sure. We go to the Tavern first."

Annie just laughed.

"Shall we, Miss Walker?" Auggie offered her his elbow.

Annie stood up and looped her hand into his. "We shall, Mister Anderson."

The pair walked out of building, arm-in-arm. All eyes were on them as the left. Once Annie and Auggie left the floor, there were so many cheers going through the office that you'd think it was the end of the New Year's countdown. There were high-fives, fist bumps, and bets being paid. Joan looked out of her office doors to see the celebration. She pulled out her phone and called Arthur.
"Arthur? You owe me $100. Annie and Auggie just left the building."
