Disclaimer- The wonderful story Gakuen Alice and all its characters belong to Higuchi Tachibana and not me.
A/n- Its just a random story I came up with. It may be a bit weird for some people, but I hope you like it!
HANDS
"After a while you learn the difference between holding a hand and falling in love"
It was another white day before Christmas on the grounds of Alice academy. Snow fell lightly, making the vast grounds look like a picture postcard. Everywhere people hurried about, bundled up to their noses. All except one, who was always different. He sat under his favorite Sakura tree, staring at his naked hands.
His name was Natsume Hyuuga, also known as the Koro Neko. To most students in the academy, he was someone to be feared, someone to be respected, and someone they could never understand. To the school, he was just a tool to be used. To the outside world, he was the Academy's most dangerous weapon. To a few, he was a friend they could trust, no matter how coldly he behaved. And maybe, maybe he was a bit more to one special person.
He was thinking about his hands. They felt cold.
He knew it was cold out, of course; it was winter after all. But with his Fire Alice it shouldn't matter. The rest of his body was warm. And yet, his hands felt...cold.
Not just cold. They felt...empty, incomplete, and inadequate.
This was weird. He didn't usually have thoughts like these. But now that he thought about it, he realized that his hands were very important. Everything he did he did with his hands, without a thought. They performed every task for him. It was through them he manifested his Alice. He used them to eat, to climb his tree, to read his manga...and to kill.
He looked at his hands. They were unusually pale, with long bony fingers. Weird that he never noticed what they looked like before.
And what the heck for were they feeling lonely for? They had each other right? Stupid hands.
He closed is eyes, his hands still in front of him. And suddenly, they felt warm.
His eyes flew open. In front of him was the one person he couldn't figure out – Mikan Sakura.
"Natsume-kun!" she said with her signature smile. Her cheeks had dashes of pink, from the cold perhaps?
He stared stoically at her, looked down pointedly at their interlocked digits and then back at her again.
"Oh" she muttered, slightly sheepishly. "It's so cold out Natsume! I was worried you'd catch a cold, Fire alice or not. Anyway, what are you doing here all by yourself? You should come and help us all with the Christmas preparations! Come on!"
And she pulled him behind her, one of her warm hands still in his. She didn't look back, sure that he wore his usual scowl.
Behind her back, Natsume smiled a rare, warm smile. He didn't know why, but suddenly, just like that, his hands didn't feel lonely anymore.
And for a little while, all was right in the world.
Well, how was it? Please leave a review!
