Title: Shadows
Rating: K+(for lack of adult situations)
Summary: Drake tries to make friends with the shadows on his wall. Based strongly on the song 'Unwell' by Matchbox Twenty.
Author's Notes:This is basically a songfic to the song 'Unwell' by Matchbox Twenty.
I'm going to make it a sort of vignette; like, each piece of the story is a story within itself. Does that make sense?
It's like, each story could stand alone as an independent piece, but they all tie together anyway.
So yeah, this is the first.
Drake's thought/speech are in italics, so you won't know if he's thinking or speaking. Fun, right? Enjoy.
(All day
Staring at the ceiling
Making friends with shadows on my wall.)
The sun was setting; it's last flaming rays burning through a small window, into a room where an auburn haired musician sat next to his stepbrother's bed; a wardrobe to his left. The boy's knees were drawn up against his chest, with his arms wrapped around his shins tightly.
Most of his body was shrouded in darkness, only his toes peeking out from the shadows; glowing a pale orange in the sunlight.
And he'd been there all day.
He awoke to an empty house at noon, not once thinking about where everyone had gone to. He attended to the urgent pressure on his bladder, and sat in that spot between the bed and the wardrobe. He didn't brush his teeth, or check his hair, he just sat, and stared up at the beige spackled ceiling as if it held a secret that would only be revealed through time.
The shadows around the room began to sharpen and move as the day wore on, and Drake tried to make friends with them.
Hi. I'm Drake. He stated, and waited for the shadows to answer. After uncounted minutes of thick silence, Drake attempted to engage the shadows further.
What's your name? Do you have a name?
He never got an answer, but Drake decided to like them anyway.
Who am I to judge you guys for not wanting to talk?
Hour after hour passed; more and more shadows filled the room, and Drake enjoyed the company.
I'm not judging you guys.
AN2: I told you guys I wouldn't disappear from the internetz. Review, please!
:o)
