The sun is set,

But a little girl,

Out on the streets,

Is still awake

She begs for a shelter,

A place,

A family.

Anything she can call home.

She's of great value,

Of cunning,

Of wit.

Her hair as red as the auburn sky.

And when they draw her name,

She feels nothing.

She's grown now, and without a family.

She has nothing to lose.

No one thinks she'll make it,

And they're right.

She's agile and silent.

Just like her tears,

The ones the Capitol's cameras never seem to

Catch.

Then she made that stupid mistake,

The one that cost her dearly,

Left her lonely,

Forced her to pay the ultimate price.

Her life line was short,

And everyone saw it coming.

She wished she could stop it.

The burning

Oh, the burning sensation.

One that ripped her to shreds, left her clawing, gasping, hurting

The pain that was forcing her to the ground.

Forcing her to give away all she ever had.

And she slipped away.

She died without knowing love.

She died without knowing care.

She was strong, and proud, and she still died.

Kindness isn't easy to come by,

But in her world,

Kindness is simply a smile, a word exchanged

Something she was completely deprived of, that she never knew, never felt

The sun has set,

And the life is leaving,

But one little girl,

Deep inside of her,

Calls out once more.

"Why?"

So, this is TheGirlWithTheGreenLightSaber. I usually write for Teen Titans, but I got bored during Study Hall a couple days ago, and this came out. Hopefully good enough for my first Hunger Games fanfic. Anyways, I think I might do a SYOT later on, so . . . yeah. Review, please!

BAI!
