A/N: Please note that this story is all about Mac. However many chapters this ends up being; all dedicated to Mac, not Veronica. So please realise that, while it may seem unrealistic to spend this much time devoted to the main problem; the main problem is more Mac's issue than the actual plot of the full story. It's a break in the plot if you will. That probably doesn't make sense. Oh well, it makes me feel better. Have fun!

Chapter 1.

How to break bad news

Dear diary,

I can tell that Jonathan is following a pattern. JD's pattern. It's obvious. The only thing is, who's next? When JD was around, he did everything he could to get rid of everyone shitty to make the world a better place. I can't agree with how he did it, but he's gone, no point in dwelling on that now. The difference is, Jonathan is selfish. From what Heather keeps telling me, I'm guessing he want's to get rid of anyone standing in the way of him and me. Who could he possibly still see standing between his 'girlfriend'?

Veronica looked over to her left, a sudden thought striking her. He couldn't possibly be thinking of Thom; he (Jonathan), still didn't know that they knew each other. She gazed at the sleeping form of her roommate. Heather was so innocent. Her chest slowly rising and falling in time to her soft breathing. Arm slung over the side of the bed, a small snore issuing from her nose. She was about to go back to writing when a loud crash sounded from the doorway and the door was thrown open.

"Veronica," the breathless form of Thom appeared on the threshold, "very important development." Veronica instinctively shushed him, gesturing to the sleeping Mac. Heather merely rolled over and snuggled further into the covers.

"Shhh, what are you doing here?" She whispered, only loud enough for him to hear her. "Come out into the corridor," She stood up and, pulling Thom's arm along the way; dragged him into the hall, shutting the door behind them. "Have you heard of knocking?!" She asked him, exasperated; as though trying to make up for her lack of expression in the dorm room.

"I'm sorry, it's just that Jonathan just gave me some vitally scary information." Thom at least had the decency to look ashamed.

"Go on,"

"Well, I was just chilling and reading on my bed, when he burst in, loud and all. He said something about how you kept screwing him over and he wanted revenge on all the times you rejected him." Jonathan stared at his feet the whole time; he was hiding something.

"Wait, I thought he already got his revenge with Jessica? What does he mean I kept 'screwing him over'?" Veronica made air quotes with her fingers as she spoke. Anger and fear coursing through her veins. She was pretty sure she knew what was coming next.

"Wait, I don't know." Veronica was about to interrupt again, but Thom cut her off. "Let me finish," Veronica closed her mouth. "I asked the exact same question, but he didn't answer; he just kept ranting. To be honest I didn't really understand it; he talked too fast. But he finished with 'That Heather McNamara is always in my way, I've got to do something about it.' Then he went into the bathroom and I came here as fast I could." Thom finally locked eyes with Veronica. His brown iris' pierced into her green ones. (A/N: I know neither Barrett Wilbert Weed, nor Winona Rider have green eyes, it just would have been weird if they both had brown eyes. The sentence just wouldn't work)

"What are you saying?" Veronica's voice cracked slightly after a moment of silence.

"Veronica, he wants to kill her"
