"Is this thing on?"
A flicker of the camera screen before the finger tapping it lowered it and the blonde surfer grinned, eye bright and full of life. He looked young, about 14, as the screen captured his image, in red and black pajamas, and the backdrop that was his bedroom – white walls with posters and pictures of him and his friends.
"Ok, so. Today is my birthday! I've decided to start making a video diary starting with today. I'm going to keep it up for as long as I can, if I remember. I might do it daily or I'll do it every other day. Not sure yet. Whenever something exciting happens, I'll make a video."
The camera shakes as the boy moves around, leaning against the backboard of his bed.
"Okay, so, today, like I said, is my birthday so I went out with my friends. Me, Mo, Taye, and Angel all went to the movies and saw some dumb comedy. I don't even remember what it was about, Mo kept doing voice overs and had us all rolling on the ground until we got kicked out. Then we walked along the beach for a while until we got hungry. We got burgers and milkshakes down by the pier before Taye and Angel had to go home."
Bodie paused as the screen picked up the small blush on his cheeks.
"So Mo came home with me and…" He paused and made a small noise. "And then he kissed me." He whispered into the mic, grinning widely. "And now he's in the other room, getting ready for bed.
Off-screen came the sound of the bedroom door opening before Bodie shifted the camera over to Mo, who looked surprised at the sudden attention.
"B, y'better get dat outta my face." He muttered playfully, screen going dark as he covered it with his hand.
"You're no fun." Bodie huffed before turning the camera back to himself. "Looks like it's bedtime~ Happy birthday, me. Night."
He waved before the screen went black.
