A/N: So I've had this story floating in my head for a while screaming write me! Write me! But I really don't like it when authors stop in the middle of the story and their only reason is writer's block. So I didn't want to do that. Now I think I've got this figured out past the brief flashes of scenes. Enough that I could iron out the kinks as I go along. Please speak your mind in reviews but I prefer constructive criticism to flames.

Becoming the Slave, Being the Lady
Chapter 1: One Breath, Two Notes
A scroll. That was the first thing the immaculate daiyoukai noticed on his bamboo desk when he opened the door of his study.
It looked simple enough: the obvious white roll was wrapped with a red ribbon. He picked up the scroll, looking at the dagger imprint in its red wax seal.
"Hnnn."
A scroll from the elders of the Inu Moon Tribe deserved the utmost attention. To ignore it would mean lack of support in finances and supplies.
Breaking the seal, he scanned his contents, and then he stopped. His silver brows slowly lowered into a frown as he re-read the scroll, this time carefully. When he was finished, he placed the scroll down and picked up another scroll. Filled with his own calligraphy, he went through his contents until he found the note he had written for himself some winters past.
One breath.
Another breath.
He glanced at both items carefully, and then glanced outside. The sun was just rising. The trees and plants were just waking up from their chilly slumber.
Time goes on as it always does.
He closes his eyes, his decision made.
"JAKEN!"

"Oh my, oh my, oh my."
Jaken moved through the library as fast as his stubby legs could carry him. Every few minutes, he would stop, take a scroll and compare it to his master's written instructions. Shaking his head he would put it back and hurry through the shelves in the enormous library. Sesshomaru-sama said that time was not on their side. Built to allow an inu in their true form, Jaken was not the best person for the task.
He was, however, the most trustworthy.
Looking at Sesshomaru-sama's instructions again, he felt his heart (and his toad-like throat) fill with pride. An errand of great importance, and Sesshomaru-sama let him do it.
His eyes skimmed past a few dusty, old scrolls and then skirted back. Making sure that no one was around, he carefully picked up the large, yellowing scroll. Opening it, he blew gently on its surface to remove the dust.
Year 2XX of the One above, Day of the First frost.
Alpha of the Moon Tribe,…
He had found it. Gleefully rolling up the scroll, he skipped away to tell Sesshomaru of his successful mission.
