Inside My Heart. My Head.

Chapter 1: Chase

At first, she was just some lady. Then again, she wasn't just a lady, she was someone that was on my land where my herd ran and grazed on. No one was allowed on my land unless if it was the girl who would call me, "Zanzibar".

Behind this lady was a man. He held a strange object that was brown and round. He looked me in the eye. I looked him in the eye and saw greed. I turned my head to the lady who was staring at me in awe.

I stepped back some. I was going to warn my herd that something was going to happen.

I just knew it from the greed in his eyes to the sparkle in hers.

"I want him!" I heard her say. "How much are you selling him for?"

"Ten thousand!" the man said.

"I don't care if this horse is that expensive! I want him!" She exclaimed.

I took another step back, and then I looked at the horse that was behind both of them. He was looking at me in the way, "Get out. Now, this is all a scheme, please save your life!"

I backed up again after seeing the terror in his eyes. I let out a terrifying whinny. The herd looked up and started running. I ran along with them. Just then, I heard pounding hoof beats behind me. It was the horse that was warning me but now he had that greedy man on his back. I was running with all of my heart. I didn't know what was going on, and all I knew is that I had to get away from this man who was chasing after me. He held that round brown thing up in the air and it landed on my back but I kicked and it flung off.

"Darn! I missed!" The man grabbed the round brown thing and threw it again this time, not even coming close to me.

My herd was way ahead of me. I could barely see them without looking back at the man who was behind me.

I soon realized that I was starting to get closer to the man because I was slowing down.

"I've got you now stallion!"

The item returned this time; I think its purpose took place.

He caught a hold of my back legs which sent me tumbling to the ground. My legs were cut, but I didn't know if I was bleeding. A sharp pain kept going through me. I knew something was bad was going to happen after this.

He had that brown thing so tight on me I couldn't move my legs. I screamed in terror and let out a loud whinny, just in case if my herd was nearby. I got no feedback.

I would never give up. No, not ever, but I would try to figure something out if I ever got to get back on my four legs.
