It didn't happen all at once but gradually the remodeled animatronics became aware. They began to question and think, as their programming submitted. It could only be described as free will, sentience. Maybe it was the negative energy that had collected over the years, integrated within the company's name and reputation. Or could it be that this is what happened to all inanimate objects eventually? Humans are complicated and delicate creatures, they could feel, live, and eventually die. Was it possible that in their existence that they unintentionally passed down pieces of themselves in their wake. Traces of their personality or interests remained and lingered, after all no one could truly want to be completely erased.
The toys were beginning to display their own individual personalities, that were growing stronger as the days passed. They could move on their own during the night when they were safe from prying eyes as the management couldn't find the right man to play night guard. Most of them had even learned how to speak coherent sentences, outside from the original dialog that they were implemented with.
It didn't take them long to establish bonds with each other, there was really no choice. They only had each other in this new and strange world that they'd just awakened to. Of course they all accepted Toy Freddy as their groups leader, the bear had a thoughtful demeanor and seemed to be the most level headed of them all.
Noticeably Toy Chica seemed to have the most human characteristics, acting much like a teenage girl. It didn't help that the build of her body resembled that idea as well, the management could've made her form a little bit more child friendly. Oh well, the older teens liked her well enough. When nightfall arose it was usually her to start conversation first, and the last to end it. Overall she wasn't too bad, a little unpredictable but it wasn't that much of an annoyance.
Toy Foxy didn't interact with them much, she never once spoke a word to any of them. Though Toy Bonnie would catch glimpses of her ears angled at their voices while talking, he supposed that some individuals just liked being alone. Unlike his band onstage, Foxy had her own attraction "Kid's Cove" where she would tell stories. The children certainly did love her and at times the management would have to step in to pull the children off of the stage.
Then there was that animatronic who resembled a human boy, Balloon Boy as the management called him. Toy Bonnie was certain that the little heathen was just as aware as the rest of them, but pretended otherwise. At random times he would just start laughing, a sound that would make the ears ache after a certain amount of time.
Toy Bonnie regarded himself to be a rather quiet individual. Being the only one who questioned their existence, his friends didn't seem to care. So he'd just ponder over all these thoughts running through his mind, trying to solve them with more questions and theories. Until his mind was so jumbled and out of order that he'd just sigh and look the other way.
At least today Toy Bonnie had a few distractions to make his musings disappear from his overloaded mind. The Prize Corner had been completed earlier, with the management closing down the establishment and taking the rest of the afternoon off once they had installed a brand new animatronic. The bunny was frequently the first to wake up, so it wasn't a surprise that the others weren't yet fully online.
The butterflies of curiosity and boredom got the best of him, and Toy Bonnie soon found himself wandering towards the Prize Corner. True to its name the shelves were stocked with plush toys and action figures. Dangling from the wall were webs of string woven with little ornaments of the animatronics in the establishment. This new addition overall had a very inviting atmosphere, and Toy Bonnie was certain that it would be a big hit with the kids. Behind the counter tucked into the far right corner was an oversized white gift box wrapped in a beautiful purple bow.
It took the bunny a few moments to realize that the lid was askew and lifted upwards in a curious fashion. Embraced in the crack of pitch black were two small orbs of white light, they were eyes. Toy Bonnie wasn't sure what his next move should be, as he might've been a little too rash to come barging in on this newcomers territory. Was it friendly? Should he be running now? Maybe it was just scared?
Toy Bonnie peered down at the peeping animatronic held up in its little box. Considering the size of its hiding place he assumed that this newcomer was smaller, perhaps intimidated by his size?
"Hey little guy there's no need to be afraid, we're all friendly here. How about you come out of your box so we can get acquainted?"
All lines of thought immediately blew up in Toy Bonnie's mind and his inner wires writhed in displeasure as cold shivers raked down his endoskeleton spine. From within its barricade the mysterious individual giggled. An emotionless action that disturbed the peaceful aroma, softly pitched in that of a little girl's voice. At the core of the unsettling sound large bouts of static popped up in demonic succession.
Now Toy Bonnie was never a quick actioned individual and this situation was no different. His mind was focused on two separate decisions: fight or flight? God help him, he was going to get his plastic metal behind outta there!
Well that's what his plan started off as, he turned around ready to make a mad dash. Legs skidding across the floor and adrenaline pumping through his servos. Eventually Toy Bonnie realized that he wasn't getting any closer to the show stage, and just about the time when that realization dawned upon him he also discovered that both of his wrists were bound by string.
This seemed like the appropriate time to freak out, if there was ever a better time for it. Then the music started playing and the bunny was just curious enough to turn around. Besides he was already screwed, it couldn't get much worse by a logic standpoint.
Of course logic decides to throw itself down the drain and things suddenly became much worse. Turning around Toy Bonnie faced the new animatronic who on all accounts should not have fit into that box. Being easily six feet tall and unnervingly thin. He guessed that it was supposed to be some form of puppet with overly long arms and legs with black and white stripes at the ends. Its overall body was pitch black, and in which the bunny noticed in apprehension that the individual's fingers were shaped like claws. The animatronic's face consisted of one of those theatre masks Toy Bonnie had seen in one of the day guard's magazines that he'd left behind on a table at the end of the day. Mouth stretched in a gaping smile, bordered on either end by what looked like red lipstick. Rosy red cheeks bordered the face and purple tear trails were painted down from its eyes.
"Silly little bunny, there's no need to be afraid."
Why did she sound like a child? None of the others were programmed like that and this animatronic seemed to be like themselves. Alive, at a technical point of view. Toy Bonnie gave a dry gulp, he was just overreacting. His head turned to the side in a thoughtful pose.
"Umm, by any chance could you untie me? Please…
The puppet thing raised her hand to that half moon shape that was her mouth. Forming a gesture that could be considered anything but friendly. The bunny was confused to say the least, he'd just come over to scope out the new competition and fellow animatronic.
Relief sank through as the strings wounded around Toy Bonnie's wrists retracted. The other animatronic backed away from him, sitting on its musical box and glancing over him in a dull fashion.
"You're all so adorable! Especially compared to my old friends."
Toy Bonnie was starting to get the impression that this animatronic had the mindset of a little girl. It was possible, if they were any proof. Wait, old friends?
The bunny found his voice facing down the other with a mutual expression and uttering in a slightly shaky tone, "who are you and what are these friends of yours?"
She stiffened, like something had slapped her. Maybe she hadn't expected him to confront her, seeing that he'd been mostly silent up to this point.
"Well to answer that a story must be told and of course I'd absolutely love to have you sit around and listen!"
She was pretending, this stunt of being all fluff was a guise. Toy Bonnie could see that, there was a motive that he couldn't grasp or see under that mask that she wore. To put it simply, something was definitely not right. Nothing about this encounter seemed natural. The bunny was here now and there was nothing he could do to change that. A nagging feeling of dread reared its ugly head, what would happen if he turned down her offer? Maybe it'd be wiser just to wait it out until his friends woke up. So he gently nodded his head, watching the other very closely.
