An alternate ending to "Bleep", as requested by Nastra1991.
"$#$%^&!" shouted DW.
DW resumed to looking through the binoculars.
"Uh oh," moaned her imaginary friend, Nadine, just as soon as DW realised that Vicita just said the swear word, shocking the whole Molinas family.
"Dora Winifred Read!" said Jane, deliberately, "What did you just say to me?"
Since she was only four, she obviously did not know what the word actually meant, and still thought that what the Tibbles said about swearing making people obey your wishes was actually true.
"Uhhhhhh, can I have a soda?" asked DW feebly.
That was when they heard the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it!" called DW.
She rushed down, greeted by Vicita and Alberto's parents and David, looking at her firmly and seriously.
"Uhhhhhh...Arthur did it?" lied DW.
"DW, I think we need a talk about this," said David, firmly. Turning back to the Molinas, he spoke again. "I'm sorry about this, it won't happen again,"
After Jane gave DW a bath and tucked her into bed, she stayed for a chat.
"I'm sure you were off the hook this time, but I hope you know now that swear words are NOT appropriate things to say, especially for three and four year old children," she said.
"Why?" asked DW.
"Because it is like you are saying that you want to hurt their feelings. How would you feel if I hurt your feelings?"
"Ummmm, sad and mad?"
"That's what happens. Promise me that you won't ever, ever swear again,"
"I won't,"
"Good. Now good to bed,"
"Good night Mom,"
"Good night DW,"
The next day, DW went to preschool, only to be greeted by her friends in the sandpit, using the same word that DW learnt, and were literally cursing over and over again with shocking profanity.
"Thanks for teaching us that word you #$%^," said one of her friends.
"Ummmm, guys? I think we need to talk," said DW, "We should never say bad words like this because it is not right for kids like us,"
"Why?" asked James.
"Because it hurts other people's feelings, and it can shock people," said DW. "Let's have things go back the way it was and forget this all happened,"
"Okay," agreed all her friends.
