Bella had always loved books; perhaps it was because she liked how everything seemed so real even though it was on paper, or maybe it was the happy endings in most of them, or it could have possibly been the adventures she lived when reading them. Every day she would be past half way through a book if she had not already finished it. It was clear to that although she ventured out a lot, she wasn't that social-she was more independent. She was extremely pretty with dazzling hazel eyes and when the sun rays aimed to fill her fair face hints of gold appeared in each iris. Her hair was the perfect brunette with highlights or blonde and reddish under tones. However even though she was the prettiest girl in the whole village her face was always buried inside a new book, each one with a different cover: some plain colours like violet or rose and some with one striking picture which could sum the whole story up-it really was true, a painting could say more than a thousand words. In all the books she really read the adventure always was followed by a happy ending, actually to be precise 'the perfect ending'. Bella wanted adventure herself- to get that feeling of accomplishing some exciting unbelievable adventure and getting that perfect ending- but in the adventure she was going to take the ending wasn't necessarily perfect but the adventure was definitely an interesting story.

"I've come to swap the book Mr Farstone" Bella stated to the librarian.

"You've finished already, I gave you that book yesterday and it's the longest I have- over 800 pages" Mr Farstone responded.

"Well it was just so gripping and the adventure was so realistic and the ending, it was the best bit" she sighed remembering each key event in the book.

"We haven't received any new books since yesterday" he explained.

"Oh that's all right I'll read," Bella paused her sentence as she skimmed over the titles of the books to find her favourite, "this one." She finished. Bella carefully teased the crammed book out from the shelf"

Mr Farstone pointed out questioning her, "But you've read that book before, actually you took it out last week. Are you sure you want to read it again?"

"Of course, it's my favourite. There is so much adventure included and the ending- oh the ending well..." She continued to reminisce about the book and as she did this the librarian just smiled. Mr Farstone loved Bella's passion about books and he loved hearing her opinions on the books, her recommendations and the way she told the stories.

"You can have it- the book I mean" he told her.

"Oh I couldn't" Bella replied, "its part of the library, the collection."

"Think of it as your birthday present"

"Wait, how did you know?" She instantly questioned as her birthday was three days away and the only person who knew about it was her father. Mr Farstone's only response though was a couple of taps on his nose before he headed to the back leaving Bella standing alone in the shop. She walked home peacefully and for the first time in a long time she didn't have her head in her book she was trying to figure out how he knew the date of her Birthday.
