Shhh. Just let it Happen

On one extraordinarily sweltering summer evening in the Burrow, not even a gnome could be heard scratching around. Everyone was in bed and everything was in their rightful place, except for one hungry inhabitant. The kitchen door could be heard if you listened very carefully as it swept open with a very slight and audible creak. The outline of a person slipped into view as they tiptoed into the kitchen on the lightest of feet. The quietest of chuckles caused the creeping form to jump in fright and turn towards the direction of the pantry and then all around to see if there was a person watching them. When assured that it was just their imagination the figure continued on, tiptoeing towards the magical refrigerator. The door opened with a "swoosh" as the cold air started to escape and covered the noise of a creaking floorboard from behind the door to the pantry. The person rummaging through the fridge found their prize and carefully started to creep towards the door leading outside. As they stepped out into the humid night air the person let out a sigh of relief.

She hadn't been caught.

Her relief wasn't long lived as… "George Weasley! What do you think you are doing?!" Hermione berated the twin in a strained whisper for scaring the bajeebas out of her and stealing her frozen sin.

Rocky road ice cream.

It was the only thing that would keep her sane in the sweltering heat and currently he was eating it right in front of her!

"Do you realize how much of a huge mistake you made when you took the first bite of my ice cream?!" Her anger was rising steadily with her voice.

At George's blank stare Hermione opened her mouth to yell angrily at him when, "Shhh, keep it down will you, mum and dad are still asleep!" Fred Weasley's sleepy voice came from the doorway.

"Well if your brother hadn't made the mistake of taking my ice cream from me and eating it, then we wouldn't have this problem!" Hermione practically screeched at him.

But.

Instead of a normal reaction, a sly grin spread across Fred's face. As he grinned and moved to stand beside his twin, he said, "Why Hermione, how lovely of you to share this wonderfully cold desert with us!" And promptly took his own bite of her rocky road ice cream.

Hermione's face gradually became as red as a tomato while she seethed in anger at the twins' mischief. "Oh, you two just make me sooo…"

Before she could even finish her statement the two looked at each other, turned, and said, "Shhh, just let it happen Hermione, just let it happen." This of course caused her to blow her top.

And so the next morning, the Weasley clan and extras could be seen eating breakfast on the front porch of the Burrow watching as Fred and George ran endlessly from an irate Hermione Granger who was sending nasty hexes and curses at them, a few of them even hit their targets every minute or so.

Bill Weasley glanced at his brother Charlie and said, "They had it coming." And if Charlie's grin was any indication, he agreed very much.

Charlie POV

Man, watching that through the pantry door was the most entertaining thing this summer!
