Summary: What if Hunter's parents didn't die? What if instead, they gave him up to protect him and then had another baby? What if after they died the other boy tried to find Hunter?
The weather was cold and rainy and almost noone noticed the small, piteous looking boy sitting alone under the tree. The young boy had hair the color of wet straw it was caked with mud and matted to his his head like another skin. His eyes were like two sapphires and seemed to reflect the pain of things a soul as young as he should never have to see. The boys eyes were staring off in the distance and seemed to be focused on nothing in particular.
His mind was whirring faster than the speed of light thinking of the information he had just recieved. Apparently his parents had had another son 17 years ago, this he had always known but now he had just found out that his brother, Hunter had been adopted and had not died as he had always believed. Slowly he fingered the locket around his neck, inside the silver oval were pictures of himself and Hunter. The locket had once been Hunter's but his parents had removed it when they gave him up. On the front of the locket was the simple message To thine own self be true and on the back there were two messages engraved in the shiny silver. One read , Hunter Bronte Marshall October 12, 1984-November 5, 1987. The other Hubert Raiden Marshall October 12, 1996. The messages were his and Hunter's names and birthdays.
It also seemed that his parents had tracked down Hunter's adopted family. Hunter it seemed was now Hunter Bronte Bradley and he seemed to have a brother Blake Bradley. As the rain lessened and eventually stopped altogether, Hugh was determined to track down his brother and meet him even if it was only once and Hunter wanted nothing to do with him, he had to meet his brother, for his parents, for him, and maybe for Hunter.
Coming to this conclusion, the small child curled up into a timy lump and attempted to get some much needed sleep before seeing his older brother.
