Author's note: I'm doing a complete overhaul on this story. Trust me, I'm working on making it much better. So, here's the new first chapter! Hope you like it!
Also, I don't own Corpse Party. I only own a couple of the characters in this story. Tell me what you think of it!
I slowly scroll down the page, hugging my leg in against my chest with my free arm. From my peripheral, the room is dyed a light blue while the large window beside me is a slate of black, like a mirror reflecting black nothingness. Adjusting my glasses, I let my gaze wander over the blog's contents. It talks about a charm that will keep you and your friends together forever.
Tilting my head to press my cheek against my naked knee, I can feel goosebumps quickly pop up all over my body. I wonder if the charm will work. Would something as simple as a scrap of paper and some pleading words really keep a group of people together? There aren't too many comments about this particular charm, neither good nor bad. In fact, there's only a couple that say anything. One's a troll and a couple of others talk about trying the charm.
Pinching at the bridge of my nose, I look into the darkness of the room curiously. There's a loud snore from behind me and a smirk easily plays across my lips. There's a young man on the floor behind me, snoring so loudly that I'm surprised someone hasn't complained, granted, everyone else in the building is probably as asleep as the boy. He's one of my closest friends, a group of three young adults nearly obsessed with the occult as I am. Usually, one of us finds some random creepy thing on the internet, presents the idea to the group and every one decides on whether or not to check it out fully. By now we've told thousands of ghost stories and played Kokkuri-san at least hundreds. The boy behind me is the closest of my friends.
I feel a smile stretch across my lips as I remember the first time we'd actually met. He had stolen one of my stuffed animals and I had chased him to one of the creepiest sections of our school. Standing outside of the music room, a strange figure had walked across the window and scared him so much that he clung to me, crying like a baby. Aoihara Jun has always been a scaredy-cat, but he's the best at telling scary stories.
Letting out a small yawn, I look back at the screen to find the time. It's nearly three in the morning and if I don't want to be completely useless in the morning, I should get to sleep soon. Jun had made it to midnight when we had first found the blog of Saenoki Naho. Bringing my thumb to my lips, I gently press my teeth against my nail. I had been reading about strange disappearances when an article had caught my attention. Apparently, a fairly famous author of paranormal stories had gone missing. Kou Kibiki hadn't been seen for about a month.
"A shame, really." I had said. "I actually really liked his stories."
"I've never heard of him." Jun had chuckled, looking closer at the screen at a picture of the older male. "He definitely looks like your type, though."
"It doesn't hurt that he's a really good writer." I had retorted.
Reading more about the handsome author, I learned a strangely great amount about him. He had two people he was close with. One was a young man with great talent in film-making and a girl around my age who writes stories of her own about the paranormal, she had even won a couple or prizes. Both of these people had disappeared as well.
Then we'd found the girl's blog.
Saenoki-san's blog is full of strange paranormal things, but the one that has caught my attention the most is her last entry, which currently fills my screen. I adjust my glasses once more, and I'm sure if someone were to look at me, they'd see my skin tinted blue and the lenses of my glasses reflecting the screen.
"Cute name. I wonder who came up with it." I whisper to myself, reading the details of the special charm once again.
'Sachiko Ever After.' Like the name suggests, if you perform the ritual properly, you and your friends will create an unbreakable bond, keeping you close forever. Blinking, I let the seed of doubt in my stomach grow a little more as I think about it. Jun thinks it's worth a try, what's the harm in trying after all? It's something we do almost all the time anyways.
Lowering my leg, I slowly lean back into the chair, letting my head fall back so I could stare at the ceiling.
"Say a magic phrase and rip some paper. What a charm." I chuckle, pulling my glasses off, setting them on the desk. I close my eyes, resting my arm across my face. "Wonder if anyone's actually managed to complete the charm successfully…"
Thoughts of my small group of friends quickly fill my mind and I turn my head to stare out of my window at the buildings outside. Something in the pit of my stomach flops, sending a flutter through my chest. It's a simple and strangely easy ritual, but something in the back of my mind is shouting that something bad is going to happen.
I turn back to the machine in front of me, clicking out of the browser and turning off the entire system, which leaves me in a dark room with only the light of the cloudy sky to give me vision.
Shoving myself out of the small chair, I carefully wander towards the wester-style bed in the corner of the room. Somehow, I trip on the young man sprawled across the futon on my floor, barely managing to land on my bed. Grumbling, I crawl under my blankets, stretching out as much as I can. With a yawn, I stare at my alarm clock, the red numbers nearly blinding. I can hear Jun's snoring and it slowly starts to lull me to sleep. One of my hands wanders to my stomach, gripping lightly at the tank top that hangs loosely on my small frame.
Losing focus on the world around me, my gaze wanders to the furthest corner of my room. In the darkness of the shadows, I see something strange hiding in the strangely tangible shadows. There's a little girl standing at the edge of the shadows, tinging the darkness with her colors. Her pale skin, the blood red dress, and her long, dirty and matted hair. Most of her face is hidden from view, but her smile would be hard to miss. It's so full of psychotic bliss, it feels almost supernaturally wide. For a moment, the girl registers in my mind, but some part of me rationalizes that she's just a product of reading so many creepy things on the internet. Then my eyes close completely and my entire body relaxes. I fall asleep in seconds, no cares in the world. Nothing in the world could wake me, except maybe an earth quake.
