The thunder rumbled loudly as the lightening flashed right by the window. I winced as I hid my head under the blanket. I was always terrified of thunderstorms when I was a child, but now I'm twenty years old, and I am still afraid of them. That's quite pathetic.
The door slowly creaked opened as another thunder boomed, causing me to wince again. I heard footsteps coming towards me and soon felt my bed crease down. Suddenly, the blanket was pulled off of my head and I could see the outline of my best friend, Kevin Jonas. He frowned slightly as he saw tears rolling down my cheeks.
"Aw, come here," he cooed softly.
I slowly started to sit up until I heard another thunder crashed. Kevin quickly pulled me into his arms before I could retreat back under the covers.
"It's ok Annie, I'm here," he whispered into my ear.
I looked up at his face and smiled weakly. Suddenly, a bright lightening burst throughout the room, and I clanged tightly onto Kevin's shirt, causing him to chuckle.
"Don't be so scared," he said.
I blushed. "I can't help it."
"How about I help you then?"
"And how are you going to do that?" I asked.
"Well...I could sing to you," he said.
"Uh, alright...?"
"Hey, I'm not that bad at singing."
I chuckled and rested my head against his chest as he cleared his throat.
"But I'll be there forever
You will see that it's better
All our hopes and our dreams will come true
I will not disappoint you
I will be right there for you 'til the end
The end of time
Please be mine..."
Kevin paused and looked down at me to see that I was sleeping.
"I can't stop the rain from falling...
Can't stop my heart from calling you..."
He slowly laid me down on the bed and pulled the blanket over me.
"I love you Annie," he whispered.
As he slowly walked towards the door, he heard shuffling in the bed. He turned his head around and saw that I was awake again. "I'm not scared anymore," I said quietly.
"That's good," he said.
I looked up at him and smiled. "I love you too."
With a big smile on his face, Kevin walked over to the bed again and sat down. We both went in for a kiss, but then a loud thunder erupted, causing me to cringe. Kevin laughed. "I thought you weren't scared anymore?"
"I wasn't talking about thunderstorms."
