Languid
Slayers - Lina/Zel

Disclaimer: I do not own Slayers of any of the characters.

Summary: Waking up doesn't have to be so hard. Just a lazy morning in the lives of 2 individuals. A one shot written with the word "Languid" as a prompt. Lina/Zel

A/N: this story runs on the premise that Lina and Zel are already together as a couple. Meant to be a short, one shot WAFF fic. Hope you enjoy!

The sun rose to a beautiful morning that day. As it climbed in the sky, its golden rays spread across the land with its warmth. In Zephilia, the gentle light peeked through the curtains of a cottage house, splaying across the faces and bed sheets of two peacefully slumbering individuals.

The increasing brightness soon caused the taller of the two to stir. He cracked an eye open and squinted, then blinked a couple of times before opening them to look down at the slumbering redhead whose head rested on his shoulder. The lavender haired man flexed his arm a little to chase away the numbness of having someone sleep on it through the night, then curled it around the petite redhead's shoulder, squeezing it slightly. He tipped his chin down and kissed the top of her head lightly. She smelt of cinnamon and vanilla as always - spicy yet sweet.

Shaking her gently, he murmured in her ear that it was time to wake up. The redhead, however, only mumbled incoherently in her sleep and buried her head deeper in his chest. The man chuckled. He had gotten used to it being hard to wake her in the morning, and even though she had mellowed down over the years, it was still never a good idea to wake her prematurely. She had to be coaxed into waking up on her own accord, and luckily for him, he had the perfect arsenal for the job.

"Lina..." he murmured, his velvety voice ruffling her hair. "If you get up I'll make you pancakes for breakfast today... With lots of maple syrup. And scrambled eggs, and bacon, and ham, and jam toast... Maybe even throw in a couple of sausages..."

"Mmm..." the redhead frowned slightly. She rubbed her face against his shoulder a little before blinking sleepily. She peered up at Zelgadis with bleary eyes. "And a glass of juice?" she mumbled, voice still laced with sleep. The corner of his mouth quirked up in amusement. "If you get up right now, then you'll get juice too." At that, Lina smiled sleepily but scrambled to get up.

Flipping herself over, she grinned up at Zelgadis and gave him a quick peck on the lips. "Morning, Zel!" She then hopped out of bed and ran towards the connecting bathroom. "Dibs on using the bathroom first!" she called as she disappeared through the open doorway. Zelgadis chuckled, then got out of bed and stretched.

He sauntered over to the bathroom and leaned against the doorframe, folding his arms across his chest. She paused in her hair brushing and blinked at the mirror, eyes wide as she drank in the shirtless expanse of pebbled skin, toned muscles and ivory slacks that hung low on his slim hips.

"And what if I insist on coming in as well?" The smooth tenor voice caused delicious shivers to run along Lina's spine. She had always found his voice sexy, and now when he spoke words like that... Zelgadis smirked and padded over to petite girl who stood frozen in front of the sink. Wrapping his arms around her, he murmured, "Better hurry or you don't get breakfast..."
