Lily reviewed the pile of papers on her desks, and sighed. This year she had been promised challenge, but the interest that she had been assured she will have did not appear. Closing the Transfiguration: 7th-year book of How-To was meant to be a challenge on its own as it required some complicated transfiguration, but Lily managed it with ease. Once more, she went to bed on time expecting perfect results on all homework pieces. At this rate, she was way beyond normal.

Lily was in her third year of Hogwarts. The third unchallenging unnecessary year at a school full of apes for teachers and chess pawns for students. The third year of manipulating everybody from her little throne in the Slytherin common room. And she did hope her teachers would do better than this third time round, but it was difficult to get them to understand that restrictions did not include her. At least she wasn't alone in this. Not entirely.

"Hey, Potter, want to check out that new spell we found yesterday?" Shouted a voice from outside the common room. Scorpio Malfoy, the only person that was any close to her intellegence. It was a pity that nobody but them knew she was the smarter one. They could not measure her wisdom if they couldn't find her limit.

"Bug off, Malfoy. I'm busy, I have a life beyond homework, you know. Go get yourself a play-date with one of those Griffindor thugs if you're bored." she replied hastily. She had tried the said spell the day before, right before she went to sleep. The following cloud of mist was disappointing, really, but she couldn't tell the excited Scorpio that. He'd be heartbroken that his latest experiment was almost a dud.

"Think you're smart, Potter? Know you tried t out yesterday. Just tell me what 'appened. It'd be quicker this way."

"Disappointing, again. Barely enough mist to fill the dorm. I suggest you re-do your calculations, and remove the tracker bit while you're at it. It's taking up lots of the power needed for the spell."

"Oh. OK, I guess. That tracker was only to make sure I knew when you tried it out, though, nothing really, um, you know, like..." The fourth- year was muttering excuses at full force now. He had less confidence than her older brother. She didn't mind, though. It just made life more interesting. He had enough good traits to cover it up.

"Just go AWAY, Malfoy."

"Fine. I'm going to try to put up some serious mist on thee Hufflepuff- Ravenclaw Quiditch match, though, so if you want to go watch you better start working on that anti-curse."

"AWAY, MALFOY." Her tone was getting dangerous now, and Scorpio knew her better than most of her family did. He didn't even bother replying as he stepped along to the stairs to the boys' dormitories. Another normal, boring Hogwarts night.
