"Finally, Pettigrew, after all these years!"
"Severus, you know what he can be like! You are a death eater yourself, look at your arm, look at your dark mark!"
"Not even the dark lord could make me betray my friends! They trusted you! LILY trusted you!"
Pettigrew crouched down in a corner, leaning against the cold stone wall of the room in the astronomy tower.
"You know, since our own time as pupils of this... noble school, I wanted to see Black and Potter kissed by a dementor. But the way things turned out lately, I am going to watch your well deserved punishment with just as much pleasure. "
You could almost say Snape grinned now, for the first time in many years.
"Mister Filch, would you please let the dementor in?", he said, with the greatest satisfaction in his voice.
The heavy wooden door opened with a loud creaky noise as the scary dark figure floated in. They both knew the feeling of having a dementor nearby, the feeling that every little bit of happiness is leaving the room. But, in contrast to Peter, Severus had learnt to live with this feeling the last twelve years, and her death was nothing that would go away with a patronus charm.
That was why, when the dementor entered the room, Severus Snape actually regained some happiness. He sat down on a small chair to watch the spectacle. The dementor started to take care of Pettigrew, devoured the poor traitor´s soul. Finally there would be vengeance. He should have died instead of her! But the thought of her makes Severus doubt. Would Lily have wanted this?
No. She would have shown understanding. The sweet, kind hearted Lily Evans, she would have forgiven him. Shouldn´t he act like she would have wanted him to? Snape made his decision and gets up.
He walked over to Pettigrew and whispered the last words he would have expected:
Expecto Patronum
