On Lily Evan's eleventh birthday a witch turned up.

They had been having breakfast as a family. Petunia had gotten up extra early to make French toast for her sister's special day. Petunia Evans loved her sister and she knew that it was enough.

She had made Lily a card and bought her a book she had been talking about. As they were all sitting down just about to dig in the door bell rang. When the woman came in to talk to Lily she began to explain that she was a witch. She was the only one in her family that had these powers.

Mr. and Mrs. Evans were just so pleased that their daughter was special. The woman, Minerva to her friends, told them that there was an exclusive private school so that she could become a witch. She began to talk about this Dumbledore fellow. Lily just gave the woman a bright smile and thanked her.

All the while Petunia sat in the corner. The French toast had gotten cold but nobody seemed to care. Nobody noticed when she slipped out of the room. She walked up the stairs to her room and sat on the bed. She felt numb.

She wondered what would happen when Lily went away. How quickly would she disappear from her younger sister's mind? Would her sister make new friends and become popular? She certainly was at their primary school.

Magic. How was it that Lily now had magic? She wondered. Maybe Plain old Tooney had it in her?

She focused on a pen sitting on her desk across the room. She closed her eyes and reached out for it with her mind. If she could just show that witch lady that she had magic too then maybe for once her parents would see her the same way they saw Lily She focused all of her energy and want. For a second she felt something then she heard a little giggle.

She opened her eyes to see Lily holding in her laughter. "Tooney what are you doing? You look so funny!"

Petunia's eyes began to water. "Get out of my room Lily!"

She jumped up and slammed the door in Lily's face. She lay back down on her bed and closed her eyes. This time she didn't do it to concentrate, she did it to stop the tears from flowing. Her mind swirled and she tried to hold back the sobs that pressured her chest.

At dinner, her mother and father kept talking about how their little girl was a witch and how amazing it was for her. Petunia for the first time in her life felt hatred and anger. Why was it always Lily? Lily was so much smarter than Petunia, that's what everyone in the neighborhood said anyway.

She grabbed the book that she had spent all of her allowance on for Lily and threw it in her desk drawer. Slamming it shut, she turned away from the desk and sank to her knees. Petunia Evans loved her sister but that wasn't enough anymore.

Tell me if you enjoyed that!
