You're a Dragon!

Natsu looked around, then up at the big dragon before him, then around him once more. The Great Fire Dragon Igneel sweetdropped at the little boy's action but found it all the more laughable. Igneel was actually surprised that the young lad wasn't afraid of him considering he was a dragon, but he wouldn't question it at all.

"Well then," the dragon rumbled somewhat uncomfortable. The little boy looked up at Igneel once again, a beaming smile now adorning his face in excitement.

"You're a dragon!" he cheered happily, giggling slightly. Igneel swore that even the scariest of dragon's would stop dead in their tracks and sweetdrop then stare at the child with a dumbfounded look on their face once they heard that, because-and this took a lot of pride for him to admit-he did as well.

"Y-yes, I am a dragon." he stuttered once he was able to speak. "Where are your parent's small one?" Igneel asked, dropping his head till his eyes were at level with the lad. Natsu's smile vanished at the mention of 'parent's' making the red dragon wonder why he looked so sad.

"I-I don't know…" he trailed off, finding his feet very interesting as he shuffled in spot. "I've never met them before, but there was this really nice black haired man named Zeref! He gave me a name! He was the first person to ever talk so nice to me! We even played a game, but he said he had to go and I wasn't safe around him. That was a long long long loooooong time ago." Igneel recoiled at the mention of the dark mage, but said nothing about it for he knew the young child wouldn't understand it at all.

"Is that so? What is your name small one? Perhaps I can tell you mine in exchange for yours?" Natsu beamed once more at that, very excited to tell the magnificent dragon before him his name.

"I'm Natsu! Zeref said it meant 'summer'!" he cheered happily. Igneel chuckled, thinking the name did suit the young boy well.

"Well Natsu, my name is Igneel. It's a pleasure to meet you." he replied with amusement clear in his rumbling voice. Natsu looked even happier-if that was possible-and bounced in spot, making Igneel chuckle once more.

"I met a dragon! This is the best day ever! Well, meeting Zeref was a good day, but Zeref isn't a dragon!" Natsu continued to ramble to himself, adding hand motions at every word he spoke, amusing Igneel even more.

"Natsu," Igneel cut him off as his thick lips curled into a smile. "Would you like to live with me? I can teach you magic and how to eat fire." Natsu's eyes sparkled in every emotion-that wasn't negative-as he froze in place.

"Do you mean it Mr. Igneel?" he asked breathlessly. The dragon nodded in response, shaking his head a little at 'Mr.'

"Yes, I mean it Natsu, and you can just call me Igneel." Natsu launched himself onto Igneel's snout and hugged it tightly, surprising Igneel greatly.

"You're the best ever Igneel!" he whispered happily to the dragon as he closed his eyes to relish in the moment. Igneel overcame his shock and smiled fondly as he let the child hug him.
