Amnesia

He's sitting there again. Idiot. Every time you see him there you nearly get a heart attack. It's strange, really. What you predicted has come true, as you hoped it would. But a part of you now wishes the exact opposite.
And we stare each other down like victims in the grind
Probing all the weakness and hurt still left behind
You remember when Malfoy betrayed him. The complete black behind his eyes, pupils so dilated that the green iris was just a narrow ring. Some very basic, very natural, was gone.
Trust.
He turned and met your gaze. He reeled back, staggered, and fell to his knees to the jeering of the Slytherins.
Is love really the tragedy the way you might describe?
Or would a thousand lovers still leave you cold inside? Make you cry...
"Damn you!" he screams. "Damn you!" He falls onto the snow. Tears are falling and he lets his head drop. "I loved him. I did. He -"
But anger stole the jewels away and love has left you bare
He's sitting on the window sill now, up on the Astronomy Tower. The tears are freezing on his cheeks as they fall. He looks paler than the Apocalypse.
You drape your cloak around him. You don't need it. Every time you see him your heart speeds up and your blood sears like fire.
"Ron, I'm sorry."
You shrug.
We twist and turn where angels burn
Like fallen soldiers we will learn
That once forgotten, twice removed
Love will be the death...
The death of you
Something crumples behind his face.
"I want to forget, Ron." He says softly. "Can you -"
Your heart goes speeding way up.
"Obliviate me?"
You look at him narrowly. You note the hollowed cheeks, dull eyes, bitten nails, and most of all the tear streaks down his face.
"Please," he says. "Ron -"
You walk quickly toward him. You look down.
"I have a better idea."
You bend down; catch his lips with yours. He tenses, then relaxes, but the tension is still there.
You push him gently against the wall.
"Let me help you forget."
He nods almost imperceptibly.
You need no further affirmation to give him amnesia.
