Chapter Two

"John? Can you hear me? Squeeze my hand."

He remained motionless, lying on the operating gurney.

"Nurses, get Kate." the doctor told them.

"Is he okay? Kate asked as she rushed into the room.

"He is not responding. However, he is alive." Dr. Wilson confirmed.

"John, honey? If you can hear me, squeeze my hand." She pleaded.

"Squeeze my hand... please."

Still, nothing. Kate looked at the doctor, while tears took over her eyes. But she held Connor's hand.

When the doctor went out, Marcus came in.

"How is he?" he questioned.

"He's... not responsive." she said softly.

"Did you check his pulse?" Marcus responded.

"He has one, but it's weak."

"Well," Marcus said as he looked around the room, "I'll let you have some time alone."

As Marcus was walking towards his sear outside the hospital shack, he heard a shout.

"MARCUS!"

He turned around and dashed back into the room. John had opened his eyes and was looking at Kate, while also squeezing her hand. The doctor heard her, and he also hurried in. John slowly turned his head and looked at the doctor.

"Thank you." he was able to whisper. "Otherwise-" John tried to explain.

"You wouldn't have made it." Kate whispered.

"I do hope you'll like your new transformation." the doctor said. "Marcus will have to teach you everything you need to know."

"I don't mean to be rude, but don't we have to get everyone back to base?" Marcus told John.

"Yes. When will I be able to leave here?" Connor asked.

"You may leave whenever, but it will take a while for you to get used to being a T-800." said Dr. Wilson.

John sat up, and methodically got off the operating gurney with Kate's help. Even though he couldn't walk very well, he managed to change his clothes and get into the helicopter. As the helicopter flew off, John did a full-hand salute to the doctor, and Marcus nodded his head. Even though John has changed, he still has a heart for fighting against the machines.
