"What kind of cake does Touko like?"
Emi looked at Mitsuki, who was sitting besides her on her house's couch, her legs resting on the living room table. That's right…Tohko's birthday was today and they didn't think of anything yet…
The latter was spending some time with her family for her birthday. So they'd only be able to deliver it tomorrow anyways.
Emi had a feeling that Mitsuki had asked her that to let her culinary imagination flow- however, Tohko was a simple girl, a vanilla cake would be more than enough to cheer her up. But masterchef Emi wouldn't settle down down just for a simple vanilla cake, nope.
"Hm…vanilla with marshmallow fluff…" the chubby girl started "…maybe a fondue ribbon on top…"
Before she finished Mitsuki eagerly got up from the comfortable couch and looked at her. "Alright, let's get to the kitchen!" She didn't need to ask if Emi had the ingredients, she knew she did, cooking was a passion of hers- and what's a cook without it's ingredients?
Emi got up from her spot as well. This was a nice little thing they did every once in a while (although, Tohko was usually with them), just cook some tasty pastries together, there doesn't need to be a special occasion or anything, just cooking and eating for the sake of doing so!
Once everything was on the counter- eggs, flour, baking powder, sugar, milk, vanilla extract, butter, egg yolk for the marshmallow fluff…and of course, the fondue. They both added the ingredients to the batter one by one at their own pace, giggling and laughing, occasionally throwing flour at the other. This was the best part about cooking with friends…just the fun of having someone there to help you out and joke around. Cooking alone was okay, yeah, but with friends it was much better.
Emi got to mixing the dry and liquid ingredients together, some of the batter spilling on her cheek, causing Mitsu to snicker behind her hand. She grabbed a tiny spoonful of the batter and ate it, giving it a good taste, offering Mitsuki another one.
"Is it sweet enough?" She asked.
Mitsuki took a lot longer to process than she should have, before smiling and leaning forward, gently grabbing Emi's chin and tilting her head to the side, licking the batter that had spilled on her cheek earlier.
"Very~" She said simply, taking the pan with the batter and spilling it over a cake pan, taking it to the oven.
Emi took a while to realize what had just happened…her face slowly going red before full on blowing into a shade of crimson which she covered with her soft hands.
"Should we wait a little to make the marshmallow fluff?" Mitsuki asked almost innocently as she went back. Emi just nodded embarrassed.
The next day the two were waiting for lunch period to deliver to Tohko her little present.
"Ehh? You didn't have to…!" The birthday girl laughed softly and sat down with her friends, looking at Emi, who was hiding her face in her arms. She tilted her head. "E-Emi? Are you okay?" Tohko asked, confused and unaware of the situation- unlike Mitsuki.
Mitsuki knew damn well what she did.
