Slow Dance
It was Friday night and East High's gym was already packed. Filled with athletes and actors alike, there was only one person Troy Bolton had his eye on. Gabriella Montez.
They agreed to meet at the dance later that night, and the only thing on his mind was the fact that he knew they would share a dance. Their friendship had grew into something more and he was ready to let her know it. Tonight would be the night.
"Hey man" Troy heard his friend say as he was broken from his trance.
"Hey Chad" he replied back. "Where's Taylor?" he asked
"With Gabi talking about her dress or something like that" he said slightly irritated.
Troy let out a laugh. "Girls" he simply stated
"Exactly" Chad said
Just then Taylor rushed over and pulled Chad onto the dance floor. Troy laughed at the sight, until he heard a familiar voice.
"Hey Bolton" he smiled knowing who it was. Gabriella he thought to himself.
He turned around to see her standing in front of him with that smile of hers that made him weak in the knees. She epitomized perfection. With her warm personality, those gorgeous curls that caressed her face, and those eyes, the eyes that he could spend eternity looking into.
"Ready to dance the night away?" he asked
"Are you?" she smiled
This was it as a proverbial tune echoed throughout the room; he was ready to make his move.
As he guided her to the dance floor, his apprehension was beginning to become more and more overwhelming. They reached the center of the dance floor and as her hands made their way to his neck, his hands followed her lead and slid to her waist. He didn't want the moment to end but much to his dismay the song had finished. His frustration grew as he was done waiting.
"Do you wan to get out of here?" he asked her
She merely nodded and they made their way out of the gym. When they reached his car he stopped.
"Is something wrong Troy?
"No. Everything is perfect." He replied looking in her eyes. " You know that dance you promised me went by kind of fast, I want a re-do."
"There's no music," she whispered
"Here" he said turning on the radio of his car.
Tonight I want to danceCan you do that with your man?
Tonight I want to groove
And let the music make you move
He outstretched his hand as he waited for her to grab it. They began to dance underneath the stars. As they swayed to the music, he knew the time was right. He looked straight into her eyes and leaned in for a kiss.
The kiss was perfect in a word. Passionate yet sweet, the world around them disappeared. Everything that was going on no longer mattered, because in that moment, the two discovered they were in love.
Forget about the
world
I'm grooving with my girl
Forget about the news
Lets
put on our dancing shoes
Lets not talk about the war
Do we know
what they fighting for
I propose that we go to the floor and we
slow dance
Tonight I wanna dance
Can you do that with you
man yea
Tonight I wanna groove
And let the music make you
move
Move yea yea
Move yea yea
I love it
I love it
I
love it we're slow dancin together
"Thanks for the dance" she said as they broke from their embrace
He looked at her and whispered in her ear. "It was worth the wait." He leaned in for another kiss and hoped the song would never end.
I propose that we go to the floor and we slow dance.
