Don't own TMNT. I don't think I'd want to either. Dunno.
Don't know where this joke comes from. My mom told me this, waking me up. Thus the inspiration.
The mattress creaked under the extra weight. "So.." His brother's voice started, finding its way to his ears in the darkness. His hands finding his brother's body, shaking him to consciousness. "There's these two robins." He continued, completely ignoring the fact that his brother was not interested in what he was saying. Raph grumbled, rolling onto his stomach, his right arm tucked under his pillow. He faced away from his brother who perched on the edge of his bed. Mike was relentless. "And they're sitting in this tree"
"Robins?" Raph growled.
"Birds, you know..Turdus migratorius." Mike perked up, Raph was actually listening.
"I'm not even gonna ask"
"Don told me. Anyway, so they're in this tree, on a lower branch yanno, watching the ground." Raph was snoring again. Mikey shook his head and slapped his brother on the arm. "Hey. Listen." He could barely see the rhythmic rise and fall of his brother's chest in the dark, but the snoring had stopped. "And they spy these worms on the ground"
"Go away." Raph pressed his head deeper into the pillow to no avail, he could still hear his brother rambling on.
"Big fat ones, so they look at each other and decide to have lunch." Raph was still trying to find the peaceful slumber he had just minutes ago. "So they swoop down and gobble 'em up." Mike's hands imitated the worms being shoved into the gullet of birds in the dark. Raph pulled the sheet over his head. "After they've eaten them all up they say 'Hey, its a pretty day, why don't we just nap here in the sun?'" Mike actually made a voice for the birds. Raph let a low growl escape his chest, a warning to his brother. "They agree and spread out on the grass and fall asleep." That's all Raph wanted, sleep. "Then along comes this big tom cat and he sees the two birds, just laying out"
"Go away Mikey." Raph interrupted with a snap. "So the cat sneaks up on them and pounces. WHAM!" Mike yelled both hands forcefully falling onto Raph's shell causing his brother to sit straight up. He grabbed Mikes bandanna ties and shoved his finger into his face.
"I'm warning you"
"Wanna know what the cat said?" Mike asked, innocent eyes shining from the glow of the digital clock. Raph shook his head, he couldn't believe he was doing this.
"What?" He gave Mike the go ahead to finish his joke.
"I love baskin' robins." Mike cracked a grin. Raph rolled his eyes, shoving his brother from the edge of the bed. He landed with a thud. "Well I thought it was clever." Mike called from the floor.
